When General MacArthur was Superintendent, he would often invite Firsties over to his house for dinner. One evening after dinner, he showed them a room which was identical to a cadet's room. He told them he would sleep on the same bed as they do because "to be able to lead men, you have to experience what it is like for them."
A few days or hours later(not entirely sure), General MacArthur noticed his China dinnerware had been stolen. For a week, no cadet confessed to who had taken the China. By this time, an official investigation had been started. Finally, someone sent MacArthur a message asking, "Sir, how have you been able to sleep the past week, especially with China in the bed you showed us?"
