I applied for the Summer Seminar and didn't fill out a prelim according to the site's instructions. Will we be assigned a username and password for the portal login eventually? Also, when do we get accepted as official candidates? Air Force has already accepted candidates as "official" candidates. Thanks!
 
You will be given a Candidate Number and login info, usually sometime in July. USAFA does let people know if they are candidates earlier than USNA, but both open their portal in July, so it isn't something to worry about.

DS was invited to apply for USNA SS and did so, but cannot log into a portal to check his status. We are wondering the same thing about getting a username and login for the portal. I have read in other threads that others have been notified via their portal as to their SS status. We were told that he would receive an email on 4-15 so we will wait. Maybe we will get portal info then.

USNA portal is not yet available for the class of 2027 (which includes the SS applicants). What you read on the other thread about seeing SS status on the portal may have been for the USAFA SS.
 
We just returned from CVW and were told our NASS kids would get their candidate # mid-May. She gave the exact date but warned that it doesn't always come on time so just hold out until the 2nd or 3rd week of May before worrying.
 
USNA is updating the Admissions platform/portals --word has come out that BGO system is down completely this week, so I would expect Candidate portals would be as well.

For those that don't know the history, USNA completely revamped the online portal system a couple years ago, switching platforms to a form of SALESFORCE. The first year ('25) was a challenge (especially because it came in the midst of COVID), with several hiccups. From my perspective, last year ('26) was significantly smoother, and this new update is supposed to incorporate changes that have been recommended in the field.

Like any software change, things could be rocky at first ..so I would encourage everyone to be patient.
