Here are a couple of good podcasts (listen to the med school episodes)

Since October 12/03 did not specify that the question was in regards to somebody applying to or attending a service academy, I thought that I would point out that the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) mentioned in one of the above attachments is available to anybody attending any medical school, not just a service academy. Briefly, once you are accepted to a medical school, you can apply to the scholarship, and if awarded, the Air Force will pay for tuition, fees, reimburse for books and required supplies (lab coats, stethoscopes, etc), and provide a stipend for living (currently about $32,000/year). More information is available at https://www.airforcemedicine.af.mil/Media-Center/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/425437/hpsp-fact-sheet/ . Other branches of the military have similar programs. Another option available to all college students is to apply to the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine https://medschool.usuhs.edu which is kind of like a service academy for medical school, but for all branches. The website https://www.medicineandthemilitary.com has additional information about both of the above and other options for becoming a physician in all branches of the military.
