how would I get into usmaps I have great leadership qualifications and am physically fit, but my grades are not the best and my test scores could get better. I’m very dedicated to going to West Point and wanted to see if I am not accepted if there are other ways to get in later.

I'm gonna assume that you have stellar leadership qualifications (Class President, Eagle Scout, student-body president, team captain, etc.) and you almost or maxed out the CFA with some Varsity sports on your shoulders. If you are not confident enough academically, then you should still try to apply to West Point. Get that congressional nomination and compete for a spot for West Point. Never compete for a spot at USMAPS. Your mentality should always be to get in directly. West Point's admission team will be the one to decide if you can get into their prep school. Other than that, you can do a self-prep at Greystone Prep for example. There are many more opportunities getting into West Point and becoming an Army officer. You can also consider AROTC and reapply to West Point.

Don't be haste on your decisions. You will be where you want to be with patience and persistence.

You cannot apply for the prep school; it doesn't work like that. If you are deemed someone WP would like to develop into a candidate, they will offer you either prep school or civil prep (i.e. Marion Military, etc.). However, if you've applied and gotten the thin white envelope, I believe your best course of action is to go to college, enroll in ROTC, and excel. Make amazing grades and work your arse off in ROTC. Reapply as soon as the application opens and complete it early. 25% of each class does not get in on their first attempt. If you really want this as you say, try again.
