Preparing to Apply to USNA

Is there a class of 2023 thread? I saw a reference in another thread. Or is this it?

Taking ACT/SAT 8 times seems exhausting - how is this possible. What is the marginal growth from one exam to another. I would think 3xs would be a max improvement formula barring extreme circumstances (no prep class, under-prepared, sick while taking exam?).

There is an old saying that " insanity is doing the same thing repeately and expecting different results." Unless you are doing something different, there is little benefit to taking ACT/SAT that many times. Sure, maybe 2-3 times -- With my kids, I viewed the first one as a throwaway --finding out what its like, getting over the nerves, etc. Second and third were for the money. I was never a big fan of the prep courses -- I did both SAT and LSAT prep all by myself. I do encourage people to take both SAT and ACT --slightly different formatting and scoring ,so some people do better on one than the other.

Besides what has already been shared, it’s time to become exceptionally well organized. (This really isn’t an application tip, but this may help you.) We installed a filing system on our den wall next to the computer/printer workspace where everything was visible at all times and not in piles or in a drawer. Also, posted a spreadsheet with due dates and activity/test score & transcript ordering, etc. This system also helped other family members so the college wall didn’t blend with school projects, etc. in the work space.

Best wishes!

How do you resend scores? I have already submitted an application for the summer seminar at the naval academy. I know that my PSAT score is really low (1150 out of 1520 ) and I used those scores for the application. I am taking the real SAT in March, and am predicting a better score, so will they see that too or will they only be able to see the PSAT scores?
Try the ACT if your scores weren't that great. They are very, very different tests and you may crush one over the other. As already stated, your College Board is where you determine who sees your scores. Good luck!
