Hello All,

I have to fill out my present health questionnaire. There are two things that are bothering me. One is that I have been going to physical therapy to increase the arch in my feet. My application already disclosed flat feet from the previous year, and I was not disqualified for this before. I'm worried that this will become an issue and I will be disqualified for this.

Second, I visited a foreign country and my doctor prescribed me Mefloquine HCL to prevent malaria. I was out of the country for 7 days. Does this medication disqualify me in any way? I have never had malaria and this medicine was taken as a preventative measure.

No need to worry about mefloquine
therapy to improve the foot arch is fuzzy medicine. make sure to state that the physical therapy intervention was not initiated due to any new problem of pain (if that is true) but rather to optimize biomechanics, or some similar blather.

The following is true: Attended physical therapy sessions in order to strengthen lower leg muscles and foot arch (I can add, "to optimize biomechanics" if necessary).

Do you think I should be worried about including that statement? I think that is my best shot at being honest and toeing the line.

if you are not including comments about pain, because you did have pain, i would consult with your physician for a better statement, as, people with flat feet can have pain unrelated to the flat feet. if you had pain, hopefully it was from some other cause and not directly from flat feet. i would ask a physician for a 2 sentence, succinct statement to telegraph to the military that you are capable of extended marches.

The pain stemmed originally from ankle tendonitis and shin splints. After I went to therapy, these were quickly healed, and my physical therapist is now giving my exercises that both prevent those injuries and improve my foot's arch.

Given this information, how can I best report it in the Present Health Questionaire? I don't want to say anything I don't need to.

excellent; understand that remodeling a skeleton after maturity is fuzzy medicine. the comment should focus on exercises for tendonitis and shin splints and not mention foot arch work, as the use of this intervention is open to debate....throw something in that you have done, such as jumping rope for 15 minutes daily or able to run 2 miles 3 times per week without pain,

Should I be worried about admitting that I had shin splints and/or ankle tendonitis for a short period of time?
