Primary nominations

Hi!
I have just received 3 congressional nominations and 3 senatorial nominations. My questions is how do I know if I got the primary nomination? Will it it appear in my portal specially outlining which one I received?

The principal nomination method is just one of the methods available to elected officials. Many do not use it.

Sometimes the elected official will inform the applicant of a principal nom designation.

I don’t know which, if any, SA portals include that information.
You can:
A) Contact the elected officials’ staffs and see if they will tell you what method they use.
B) Ask the SA and see if they will tell you if you have a principal nom.
C) Rejoice at your abundance of noms and leave it be.

I am little confused. Do all MOC sources give principals? I don't want to ask if mine doesn't.

Research the site.

Most do not give principal noms.

You won’t know unless you ask, are told you got one, or the MOC announces it publicly.

Thank you! I just didn’t know if it would tell me in my portals.
 
Each MOC does it differently. In the case of our DS, the Senator chose to tell him via the nomination letter that he was principal, he was pleasantly shocked. Not all use the principal method, and not all may indicate if you were named principal.
 
Our senator and MOC both chose a primary with unranked alternates and told us who won them in emails. The letter did not specify this info that came about a week later.
 
USNA portals do not indicate what method the nomination source used. So there isn’t a notification, in the portal, of a primary/principal designation to your nomination.

MOST do not do principal. And just because a nominating source did before, doesn’t mean they alway do it that way.

The only way you will know is of you inquire. Some will say that’s fine to do. I personally don’t think it matters, so would advise against inquiring. If they wanted you to know, they would have told you in the first place 😉
 
Would a principal nomination show up differently on the portal? How does the SA know that it is a principal nomination?

How in the world do you receive 3 congressional nominations? I thought it was a district orientated thing

Since they can only have 5 appointees charged across 4 class years, if they happened to have 3 open and used them all for 2026, this would not be favorable for the next few years of incoming classes! Let’s hope it’s not this alternative.

I received a primary nomination and was notified from by Congresswomen. However, my portal showed only "TX-16 nomination" (in the case of USMA). I suggest you reach out to your congressperson's office and ask!
