"PTR PACKET" & "SPONSOR PROGRAM" sections added to USNA Portal

I don't know diva, his letter says he has to show up at 6:30 AM om I-Day !!!

Boy, that kinda sucks for the his two :sleep:younger sisters, but it is easier to park for me :thumb:.

So what to do after he gets dumped off in front of Alumni Hall? @ 6:31 am we could break out the lawn chairs  and watch them pouring concrete at the new Cyber Security Parking Garage across the street? That's always fun (at least for me)

 BUT WE ARE NOT COMPLAINING !...Just thought 8:00 am was 'time on target' for I-Day? :wiggle:

Oh yes, the line starts early for plebes-to-be.

Breakfast at Iron Rooster! You'll have time to stand in line. Do the first of many Mid Store shopping runs, because you can't have too many of those clear Mid Store shopping bags. Hit expo tent on Hospital Point between 10 and 2 to visit info tables and snag free stuff, including the annual USAA Proud Parent bag giveaway. Eat Alumni Association lunch (pay in advance) and hang out in big Shade Tent. Visit the Museum. Walk over to Drydock or out to DTA for lunch. Attend any briefings.

Search other I-Day threads for plenty of background.

People do bring lawn chairs and coolers and park themselves in the shade.

You could let the sisters sleep in, park at Stadium, ride shuttle with him to Alumni Hall, give him the last hug before the vacuum in front of Alumni Hall sucks him in, jump back in shuttle, retrieve sisters, get breakfast, head back to Yard.

Hi Murf, last year DS' report time was 6 or 6:30am, we were there early. After he walked into Alumni Hall for processing we followed the crowd to Bancroft Hall to watch the plebes-to-be move in - hopeful to get a glimpse of him. Unfortunately we didn't get to see him until after they took their oath, and then only for about 20 minutes. DS was tired and anxious. The day was long but ended abruptly. We arrived 3 days earlier to tour the Yard and DTA, played "spot the plebes-to-be," bought a ton of SWAG in the Mid Store, and said hello to the candidates and their proud parents and family. Incredible day to experience!

No PTR stuff in mail here either. The stuff on the portal is linked to last year's packet. It says class of 2019 on it.

So what to do after he gets dumped off in front of Alumni Hall?
Hold up a big sign that says "MTS" or "Murfematical analysts" in the parking lot across from Alumni Hall? Time flies when you get to chat all morning!

Envelope sealed with masking tape? Anyone else? Seemed weird. One tiny piece of scotch tape under it. Just was odd to me.

DD's packet also showed up today. With masking tape, I might add!!!!
Ok. Was concerned that it had been opened enroute, not that there is anything confidential inside, but it just seemed odd. Thanks.

In the PTR package: should we sign up for midshipman life membership at graduation program?

FWIW - This is one of the better Plebe/Parent Handbooks around.

It is assembled by the Wisconsin Naval Academy Parents Association (WISNAPA) and is regularly updated, too!

We are not from that state, but this PDF is a true Gem !

Excerpt:
"At 6 PM, appointees assemble in front of Bancroft Hall for the Oath of Office ceremony. Appointees officially become plebes once the oath is administered. If a front seat is desired, arrive early. The ceremony is generally brief but poignant. Plebes pledge to "well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which (they) are about to enter." Most parents will not be able to find their plebe in the mass of identical-looking people lined up stiffly facing forward. A flyby by the Blue Angels in recognition of the significance of this event is considered very powerful and emotional."...........................................Plebes are dismissed for their final few moments with family and friends after the Oath of Office. Family members should stand by the post bearing the first initial of the plebe’s last name (the same instructions will be given to plebes) on Stribling Walk, which is directly in front of Bancroft Hall. ..................Do not make the mistake of going to the letter of the company your son or daughter is assigned. It’s a good idea to have a cold drink, snack and a towel or jacket for your newly appointed plebe to sit so as not to get his/her new uniform dirty. A cell phone for last calls is also appreciated. The new plebes will most likely glance repeatedly at their watches to make sure they are not late to reform. They may already have stories to tell or perhaps they don't want to share anything. Remind them how important they are and wish them well. When it's time to go, give them a last hug and try not to be too emotional. ...........For many parents, it truly is a strange mix of emotions. For many plebes, it's a day of change. When plebes go to reform into their platoons and march-off to Bancroft Hall, feel free to follow and take photos. Other than an occasional rushed phone call or a short scribbled letter, plebes will not communicate until Plebe Parents Weekend (PPW) six weeks later.

Is a watch one of the things they are allowed to bring (and retain)? Conflicting info on if everything is apprehended and not returned until PPW or if there are some items they are allowed. Flying blind here, no PTR yet.

Murf, prior to I Day an upperclass parent in our parent club told us to send a small US flag that DS can put on his desk during PS and plebe year. Didn't ask why, but did as we were told ... I bought a couple U.S. flags and stands at the USNA Visitor Center (I don't recall seeing them in the Mid Store) and sent them in his first care package. I just scanned the document you posted and it explains the rationale for having the flag. I was also told something about trapping mice in Bancroft with plastic cups and holding them prisoner and the Geneva Convention ... but I didn't understand that either.

I can't seemed to find "Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (PPD) form" is there an actual form in the PTR packet?

The attached is the list of suggested items to send from the PDF. Your plebe will not get their hands on the cash, flashlight, clock and watch. These items will be returned to them at the end of PS. If you will be attending PPW, you can just bring them yourself.
(During PS they will not need money; they are not allowed to read after taps and they NEED their sleep; they will not be allowed to wear a watch - they will be told by detailers how much (little) time they have.)
