Okay so I know hereditary royal families are not really our thing but there is something spectacular about pomp and ceremony as only the Brits can do it and we are on day one of three days of it! Being half English myself there is definitely something deeply stirring about seeing the whole household division on parade especially the cavalry. Apparently over 2000 military personal, multiple gun salutes and around 70 planes in fly-past's between now and Sunday.

And there is one thing that all service members, regardless of country, can bond on… our hatred of parades! I did see the photos of Prince William at practice the other day and laughed… even Princes have to do parade practice.

It is spectacular to watch! Looking forward to seeing parts of it. I think the closest we get to something with that many service members is a Presidential inauguration or Presidential funeral.

Just watched the fly past, I love watching those spitfires, (admission) I had a spitfire comforter as a kid and I have always loved them, the Red Arrows are cool but give me the spits any day.

And how about a shout out to the Queen, a servant leader for 70 years. However we feel about royal families, I respect the heck out of her and her sense of duty to country.

All kinds of video on YouTube.

I happened to be in London for her 40th quite by accident. Had a little nostalgia today.

Hey, that's what we did for my mom's platinum jubilee! The matching horses and the hats and all, it was quite a production. I think the lady at Party America said it was the largest jubilee she'd done that year. Geez, you'd think we'd at least get a mention when they lift the whole program like that.

Of course, we need a musical fanfare interlude!

I actually got to see them rehearsing as I was on my morning walk through Hyde Park during my overnight. I didn’t realize who it was as the Bobbies had it roped off.

Nothing like marching in a parade behind the horses🐎 Been there done that on what was to be a day off. Not eyes front eyes down.:D The Brits do pomp well and very impressive but have had lots of practice. They still play My Country Tis Of Thee quite well.:band:

Attention, all pilots and wannabees:

Aviation footage from cockpit of Red Arrow, good stuff on the vintage planes, helos, etc.
