You can look at all the required classes for each major on the USMMA website. They are similar majors. Most people think Marine Transportation ("Straight Deck") is a bit easier, and it provides you room in your schedule for an additional elective or two your first class year. The most important thing is that you decide between deck and engine. You will have classes your first trimester that will provide you with more information on the differences among the five available majors.
