Question about Sports Involvement

Hi everyone,
I am looking to apply to USMMA for the Class of '27 (this is my first choice school) but I haven't been involved in any sports whatsoever. I've noticed that most applicants who are being accepted are involved in sports, so I am wondering if my chances of getting accepted are significantly lowered?

I am involved in some extra curriculars at school, such as JROTC (Armed Drill + Cologuard, earned a varsity letter), Speech & Debate, and some volunteering clubs such as Key Club. I am really hoping to earn a leadership spot in my JROTC program next year, but I will have to wait and see.

Is there anything I can do before and/or during my senior year to improve my application. Also, is there a specific SAT score that I should be shooting for in order to make up for my weaker EC & Sports profile. I am taking the SAT in August

Thanks in advance.

Boys State is good but you might already be too late for that but maybe other leadership programs like that. Or look for other EC activities that will allow you to have a leadership role/demonstrate the qualities of leadership. Maybe see if you can start a new club and be the President? Just throwing some ideas out there....Participation in sports per se does not seem to be a key factor but showing you are a contributing member of a team and demonstrating leadership is more important. FWIW. Good luck.

I didn't do high school sports.

I joined a sports once at school of my interest and other waterfront activities.

Sports help your application, but aren't necessary once you arrive at school. You can be recruited for one and do another.

Grades followed by misconduct will get you removed while in attendance.

A leadership role in JROTC will help your application more than simply participating in a sport
