Hey!

I was wondering something about the average scores regarding the CFT.
Are the average scores that are posted on the USMA website the average CFT scores of candidates who get appointed to West Point, or just the average score fro all those taking the CFT? Thanks.

Actually it's called the CFA - Candidate Fitness Assessment.
The Averages are for those who were offered appointments.
Shoot for the maximums and most importantly do you best.

Thanks Just a Mom. Sorry, I always think that its called the candidate fitness test for some stupid reason.

Another question...are the pull-ups palms facing in or out? Even w/ palms in I have a fail score of only being able to do 6/7 at most even though I'm light weight. So besides doing pull-ups, how can I increase the # I am able to do?

Yah, your're probably right. 2012 cadet, for the CFA, pull-ups are done with palms facing away from you. Hope that helps.

Pull-ups are always with palms facing away from you. Chin-ups have palms facing towards you.

You're a rising sophomore, right? Don't worry about the CFA right now. Focus more on your GPA, ECs, and leadership. You'll have plenty of time to practice for taking the CFA towards the end of your junior year and the summer before your senior year. In the meantime, just make sure you keep in shape. Exercise regularly, especially in your sports off-seasons. However, if you really want to increase the number of pull-ups you are able to do now, I would recommend buying one of those pull-up bars you can hang in the doorway -- that's what I have. Then, make sure you do a few pull-ups every time you walk past it. It works wonders.

thanks for the advice...definitely need to work on that leadership part since have had basically none at all yet whatsoever

USMAalltheway,

CFT=Cadet Field Training. This is the summer training the rising Yuks attend at Camp Buckner. I think that is where you are confusing the acronym with CFA. (I am with you, it does sound like it should refer to Cadet Fitness Test -- in fact, I called the CFA by the wrong thing his whole sr yr of high school.)

Don't feel bad - I still get all these abbreviations mixed up when talking with my son. Just about the time I get these figured out and call them by the right thing, he springs a new one on me! :shake:

Haha!:yllol: thanks anonagron, yah, some of the acronyms are really confusing to me. Thanks for all your guys help!
