Question regarding PCQ

When I open my PCQ and begin my application, is there like a timer that starts ticking down, or is it a set due date?

For example, say I open it today, (and this is purely hypothetical, no real numbers) would it close 2 weeks from when I opened it or a set date such as April 1st?

Thanks!

You should be able to fill out a PCQ any time before Dec 31. No deadline on that.

However, once your full application opens up, you will usually have about four-five months to finish the application. The deadline is posted on your portal once your PCQ is approved.

For example, when I applied the first time, my candidate file opened up on July 1 and I had until November 1 to finish it. Deadlines are different for everyone, but know that USAFA will assign you a set date to finish everything

There is no timer. If you applied to the Summer Seminar, it is the same type of application. You can fill it out and save it, then leave the site and everything will be saved. The application actually only takes about 10 minutes.

So opening up a PCQ now will have no impact on if I have to turn in my application earlier compared to others or not?
It may. Generally, the earlier you submit a PCQ, the earlier your candidate file will open up, and the earlier you will have to submit. But everyone gets about the same amount of time to complete.

Keep in mind that USAFA asks you to add your anticipated 8th semester sports and activities, and having your file in the hands of admissions earlier never hurts, so there's not drawback to finishing early.

Takeaway is that you'll have about four-five months, same as everyone else

Just something to think about - I am applying for the class of 2025 and I submitted my PCQ the day it opened up. I got promoted to candidate status on July 1st and my due date was November 1st (the earliest of the rolling deadlines). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I got the earliest deadline because of my early submission of my PCQ. In some ways, having the earliest deadline was fantastic. I got everything done and then didn't have to worry about it. I also got medically DQed and my process of trying to get a waiver has really taken a long time, so I appreciate that I started early. However, if I had a later deadline, I probably could have significantly improved on my CFA. If you are someone who is on the cusp of not passing the CFA, perhaps having a later deadline (by submitting your PCQ later) may be beneficial. Again, there were also many benefits to having the November 1st deadline. Just something I wished I would have known.
