Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2026 USAFA Appointment Thread

My vaccination status has been approved through ROTC and I received the email. I wouldn’t be too concerned though.

The one other cadet reapplying at my det I know got it. So i'm confused. But who knows.

I am beyond blessed to have received an offer of appointment to USAFA. It’s been a long 8 months and I could not have accomplished my goal without the support of the people on this forum. Thank you, and Go Falcons!
Congratulations!! When did you receive the appointment?

I have received emails from them before. I have also completed DoDMERB and all the other requirements in a timely manner. Yet, I didn’t receive this email for some reason. I am fully vaccinated but I have never shared that information with them, I might have shared that info during the DoDMERB process though. Speculation won’t do me any good, but I hope that not receiving the email is not a bad sign of my application status.
Never mind, I just barely received the mass email this morning. :groupwave:

congratulations. Hard work does pay off! Now I'm waiting for my appointment. Probably will take place in March as my due date was in January.

I hope so! I completed my app & submitted in November, I got 3 Nominations, 1520 SAT, 4.0, 3Q, all AP classes, multi-varsity athlete/clubs Captain, etc., etc., I got no LOA, no nothing, who knows how they figure this out.

I do have a 1330 sat(sadly, could not retake because of the congressional interview), 3.97 gpa(they don't weight my gpa), 7 aps(took as many the school offered), varsity soccer, 2 nominations(congressional + presidential), competitions won, and a bunch of other stuff for clubs and academics.

I believe they also look at your school and district and essays/LOR as a decider.

We'll see if we get in next month!

Just curios. All nominations have been moc not senatorial? or are they included in the moc nomination designation for this forum?

Yes, Senators and Representatives are both Members of Congress. Not just on this forum.

Duh. But i was not sure people were posting if it was the congressman/woman or a senator for the actual nomination….

Like i was assuming ( i guess assuming u know ) moc as your congreesman/woman… and people would post Sen for senator’s nomination, Pres for presidential and VC for vice president. I guess i am simple minded ;)

People are free to post as such. Peruse through previous years lists to see how it's been done. In the end, as @Stealth_81 said, both are members of Congress.

Personally, I think of the senator nomination as more competitive, although I'm from a state that has almost 20 congressional districts. In larger states senators draw from all applicants in the state, not just a single district. There are several states with only one Congressional district, i.e. Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming. So in those states it's the opposite. But a state like California, with over 50 districts, the senatorial nomination would be very competitive.

For my DS, his nomination letters mentioned there is a level of coordination between senator and representative offices.

I was just curios how and when they come
Out . In our area we were told if you get a moc nom you wont get a senatorial, yet in a county not far far away ( sorry lol ) the same senator who said no double nom was ok w moc and sen nomination. That is why i was curious, yes we have over 20 districts too

MOC noms are required to be submitted to SAs by end of January. For my DS (3 application cycles), letters seemed to arrive just after Christmas/New Year's.

Keep in mind that MOCs change frequently and because one Representative or Senator did things one way doesn’t mean that subsequent officials will do them the same. My oldest son got noms from both senators and our rep, but my youngest was told only one nom per person 6 years later.
