Questions from an appointee to the class of 2021

I was notified of my appointment this past Tuesday and I am honestly baffled that I do not know the answer to these questions, but nonetheless here they are.

Just like how civilian colleges have an "admitted students day" where students travel to the school after being admitted to get a tour and more information to help them decide if that school is where they should attend. Is there a day for individuals with appointments to visit the academy prior to I-Day?

Just to clarify I am not asking this question because I am hesitating on accepting my appointment, I will absolutely be accepting it. I am really just looking for an excuse to have my parents bring me back down to USNA before the summer shenanigans begin haha.

My second question is does anyone know if there is an official facebook page for 2021 appointees? I searched it earlier and it came up with two different pages neither of which looked official. If anyone has information on this that would be fantastic.

USNA does not have a day you mentioned above. They do have candidate visit weekends (CVW) where candidates and appointees can visit over night. They are on designated weekends. Recommend you talk to your BGO to request one. Search this forum for CVW and on the USNA admissions page and you will find tons of info.

USNA itself won't make an official Facebook page for each class. Someone usually sets one up and makes it private and will add appointees as they request it (usually ask for a pic of your appointment to control it). USNA'a official communication for appointees will be via email, your portal and snail mail. Usually Facebook is used to get to know one another in the class, share info, etc.

Honestly don't spend every waking moment trying to figure out Plebe Summer. Get in shape, be prepared to be yelled at and help your classmates. It's no mystery and you can prepare all day. Until you are living it, are exhausted beyond belief, hot, sweaty and can't do a single thing right... you can't really understand it.

Can't agree more with your third point. I am proud to say that posting about my appointment was my first thing on Facebook in over two years.

Also, if you can't arrange a CVW (highly unlikely) USNA runs tours for the general public most days of the week.

Read everything in the Plebe Summer area of usna.edu.

Google "USNA Visitor Center" for walking tour info. That's really just an orientation to the Yard and its mission and history. You won't interact with mids but see them about their daily business.

If you have never attended the Admissions brief on the Yard, though you have clearly already made it over the finish line, it's a good place to ask all kinds of questions. Info on the Admissions pages.

If you have never done this, scout the entire usna.edu website/dropdowns/links, not just Admissions, to gain knowledge.
