Hello,

My DS like many here is awaiting the results of the AROTC January Board.

He learned this week that one of his top choice schools did not accept his application. The school that rejected him stated that they would reconsider their decision if he asks (not reapply, just call them). I'm not sure what to make of that, but I guess it means the option to go to that school may be back on the table eventually. Also, his top 4 are all fantastic schools.

Given where we are with this round of the AROTC Board results coming soon... Would you recommend he...
1. Leave his AROTC application school of intent list alone for now. Army Cadet Command has made this iteration of the OML or will finalize soon, and schools will review whether they want to offer him a scholarship. Deep breath and then deal with options after learning potentially of a decision soon?

2. Update the School of Intent list to lower the priority of the school that did not accept him? Would this increase his chances of getting an offer from his currently #4 school if that moves into the top 3? What risks might this update now introduce?

DS wants to avoid is taking an action that would irk the board or schools, offend anyone inadvertently, and above all he doesn't want to sabotage himself to get passed to the 3rd board because he introduces new information when he should not have but didn't know any better.

All guidance welcome. Thanks!

This current board has already met and Cadet Command is in the process of finalizing the awards and assigning schools. It would probably be best that he wait until the results from this board are posted, after that if he has not been offered a scholarship this round he will have time to change his school selections before the next board. If he does receive a scholarship from this board and it is to a school he has not been accepted to he can follow the instructions and request a transfer of the scholarship to a different school.

Can't find it now, but read somewhere that your offers would be to schools that were listed at the time the board looked at them. I don't think changing now would offend or sabotage, but they probably "freeze" the file when they look at it and make a decision from what they see.
