Remedial Letter

i think so, one month ago the asked for the same information they asked for 7 months ago.
Part of it was he had his appendix removed which triggered a 6 month waiting period.

AJC, is your DS an AROTC scholarship recipient by any chance? I talked with a ROO yesterday, and only heard harsh/negative things about the current process. It's taking a VERY LONG time for AROTC waivers to get approved, much longer than this time last year.

He is. His ROO has told him not to worry about it. The waivers he needs are routinely approved. If not approved by April (that would be a year) then they would look into it. Somewhat reassuring but I am compulsively checking his DoDMERB status.

That's good to hear. The ROO I talked with basically said that there is a new 06 at Cadet Command that is approving waivers, and is incredible slow.....much slower than the last guy. I'm sure things will work out, but the wait is ulcer inducing!

Hello everyone! This is my first post. I tore my ACL on 3/31/16 and had surgery on 6/07/16. I am cleared to play Strength and Conditioning at my school but am not cleared to play track until March when I take another strength test. These are my medical codes:

21-SEP-16 Date applicant entered into DoDMERB system
14-NOV-16 Application Added
23-NOV-16 Actual date of exam
03-DEC-16 Date exam received at DoDMERB
03-DEC-16 Medical data entry
14-DEC-16 Date letter sent - Remedial R251.15, R220.00
14-DEC-16 Date exam reviewed

Agency: US Naval Academy
Cycle Year:2016
Current Medical Status: Remedial Requested
Code Description
R220.00 Provide copies of all medical and surgical records regarding left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair with hamstring graft - 2016. Please include any written reports from any imaging performed. DO NOT include physical therapy notes.
R251.15 Release to Full/Unrestricted Activities regarding left ACL repair with hamstring graft

(It says the same for USMA)

If I'm not "cleared to play SCHOOL sports" until March like my therapist said, will I not be able to complete 251.15? I want to hurry this process up as much as I can and cannot stand to think that I will have to wait to send clearance in March. I am, however, physically able to take the CFA as of right now and am getting in shape to take it in January. Someone on here mentioned having their coach write notes aobut their current physical state but I don't want to send DODMERB anything they don't want or that will slow the process. Please help :(

DoDMERB does not care what your therapist cares about. They only care about what a Physician has to say. They even state that in R220.00 "DO NOT include physical therapy notes"

They do not want the opinion of your therapist. What they want is a report from your physician that says you are released to full/unrestricted activities. They only really care about what a physician has to say. If you cannot get a report from your doctor that says released to full/unrestricted activities, you maybe able to get them to project when you will be cleared.

Being released for unrestricted activities my get you qualified. Otherwise you will be putting your package together for a waiver review. The projection of when you will be unrestricted will support a possible waiver.

Thank you 5Day. I only mentioned my therapist because my doctor relies on him to clear me but I do understand that my doctor is the one who has to write the final say to DODMERB. I will send the materials to DODMERB next week if I have everything, take the CFA in January, wait to hear from DODMERB that I am DQ'ed, and see if Admissions will determine if I am competitive and decide whether to request a waiver for me or not. Anything else I am missing? I'm curious about the wait time for all these decisions from DODMERB and USMA, but looking through this forum I see that it is case-by-case so it is hard to predict.

@purpledog394 you should explain to your physician your DoDMERB situation. See what he would be willing to say about your recovery. It will be your doctor's documentation that will carry all the weight. You can have influence over your doctor's diagnosis and it is important for you to manage their documentation.

I'm talking with my therapist monday because I talked to him last week about DODMERB and he was going to talk with my physician because they work together. I'll see what I can do to talk to my physician directly though, maybe transfer a note throught the front desk. Thank you 5Day!

Good afternoon everyone. I am writing a personal letter for one of my required AMIs regarding a triquetrum fracture that happened this summer (R251.12 and R251.15). Who do I address the letter to? "Dear DoDMERB?" "To whom it may concern?"

XXMetal, the personal letter might be a waste of time--and now it is January so you don't wish to waste a day or a week. Go see your family physician, get your physician to write what needs to be written--that talks about x-rays, follow up, and your complete recovery and return to unrestricted activities (if this is the case--have him or her state it clearly) and have your physician email it to the address at the bottom of the AMI letter that you received. Don't waste time.

Can you explain this please? I will be getting a letter from my physician either tomorrow or wednesday to fulfill the second AMI, but isn't R251.12 specifically asking for a personal letter? Nothing long, of course- it is about 100 words- but I don't see how it would be a waste of time if the DoDMERB thinks it is important.

This is how it is written on the letter I received, dated 27 December, 2016

"R251.12 --- DOES NOT REQUIRE A PHYSICIAN'S APPOINTMENT: Please provide information (signed and dated) regarding the extent of your participation in athletics during the past year. Indicate if you require any external supports, e.g., knee braces, lifts, etc. Have you ever been restricted in your athletic/recreational participation because OF since your triquetrium fracture or for any other reasons? If so, explain in detail."

Perfect! That is the perfect reason for your to write. I suggest that you write it and sign and date it, scan it and email it to them so they can start processing it tomorrow or early this week. Be sure to tell them that you have been fully recovered since xxxxx. Good luck. "To Whom it May Concern" would be appropriate or "Dear Sir"

@xxmetal your remedial request states quite clearly what they want to qualify you. If you need to answer yes to their list of questions, think very carefully about what you write. Tell the truth, answer what they ask for and provide the details necessary to show that you have no restrictions and limitations (if true).
