Good morning day 51, getting closer to hearing good news for everyone!!! I have taken everyone's advice and really talked to my DS about his plan B (Embry-Riddle NROTC scholarship) and preparing for the idea if he were not to get it. He absolutely does not want to talk about it and I told him that sometimes there is a silver lining to not getting in straight out of high school, as many of you have posted: (that extra year of maturity, living independently, learning to be efficient with your time, etc.) I dread the day that he may hear he does not get in, but I have come to terms with it. Your stories have helped me be able to offer him the support he would need and I want to thank you for that. This forum is so helpful because we are in it together and as parents all we ever want to do is be there for our kids. It is so nice to see so many like minded individuals with great advice come together and help each other through this arduous process. I enjoy checking in with everyone (many times a day 😂 actually) in hopes of hearing good news. So, let the appointments start rolling in this week!!!! 🥳

As candidates draw closer to the 15 April deadline, I have the feeling that there will some that will experience the dread you mention. I also hope that the disappointment is fleeting for all concerned. I leave you and candidates still waiting with this thought from the author Thomas Merton:

“You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.”

My DS hasn't heard anything as well from the SA's. He is moving forward with plan B and he is super excited about it.

Good morning all! DS got the TWE from West Point. His CFA was finally approved on the same day of TWE. Letter said you were Academically and physically qualified but not medically. It was his last choice of SAs and not even sure he would accept if offered (he wanted water academies & has his appt. for 1st choice). We aren’t surprised at the no waiver, it probably would be the most demanding on his previous injuries. C’est la vie. Still waiting on two more answers 1 with waiver and 1 waiting on waiver.

Hello Day 51! Still status quo here!

Bduett I’m so sorry about your DS’s TWE for USMA - boo! But sounds like he’ll be set with his top choice(s)!! Hope the rest is all positive from here on out!

PhilaMan23 congrats on USAFA!! That’s awesome!!!!

NavyGirl06 that’s great news - every bit of progress is a win!!

Good luck to the rest of the gang today!

I can't offer near the advice others can, but I can offer this having been through round one last year. Along with our youngins we invest a lot of emotional capital. It becomes an occupying force, in spite of reasoning or rational. LOL If it doesn't work out, it will work itself out in a different direction. Just to see the growth our DS made from this time last year to this is invaluable. It's a test. At their age a year is a long time, at ours, not so much. Hoping for the best for your DS.

Nope, appointments will still be going out. Don’t freak out if you haven’t heard today, there’s still time for an appointment and you still have a chance until you get a rejection. But USAFA appointments still go out in April!
I see.. I see. Thank you!! Also, congrats on your appointments! It is an amazing accomplishment.
