Hello Day 51! Still status quo here!

Bduett I’m so sorry about your DS’s TWE for USMA - boo! But sounds like he’ll be set with his top choice(s)!! Hope the rest is all positive from here on out!

PhilaMan23 congrats on USAFA!! That’s awesome!!!!

NavyGirl06 that’s great news - every bit of progress is a win!!

Good luck to the rest of the gang today!
Thanks! It would be nice to have multiple BFEs as a reminder of what he can do but he has the one that matters most to him.

I see.. I see. Thank you!! Also, congrats on your appointments! It is an amazing accomplishment.
Thank you! Crossing my fingers for you, I also live in CO, so pretty sure they get to the home state relatively quickly so they still might’ve not gotten to where you are yet so hang tight. Is USAFA your first choice?

Yesterday, on Day 50, I think I realized I should probably do what many others are doing and sort of mentally commit to plan B for DS’s sake. Thankfully he’s generally disengaged with this waiting game and is very happy with his USMMA appointment. While he knows USNA is still pending and would be beyond elated to get an appointment, he doesn’t seem emotionally attached to any particular outcome. I think he’s almost like “just let me know when a decision has been made so I know where to report this summer.” 😂

So even though he’s still waiting on USNA / USNA foundation, NROTC-MO, and 3 of his top civilian colleges, he has USMMA and right now that’s his first choice of where he has been accepted. Although the uncertainty is driving me crazy, it’s not driving him crazy so I think I’ll embrace USMMA (which is amazing!) as our current plan A! Adding USMMA dates to our calendar yesterday was the first step - feels good!

Good luck to all - so glad to wait with such a great group!!

A very healthy attitude. Quite freeing.

I live in FL 😅..honestly, I’m currently debating between USNA/USAFA (given the opportunity to decide), but my goal is to be a pilot. Is USAFA your first choice?

Oh nice! My first choice is USNA! I haven’t heard back yet… have you?
I have not!! But hopefully soon. It’s been pretty silent in the USNA appointments forum. Still on pending.. I didn’t receive an LOA/LOI.. did you?

yes same here…. Not many people have heard from USNA! No I didn’t get a LOA. Hopefully we hear soon this is lowkey killing me
ME TOO 😭😭😭… I’ve been busy with traveling and school the past few weeks so the time is going quick. I also have some civilian college decisions to look forward to in this upcoming week. Did u apply to any civilian schools?? THE WAITING IS THE WORST PART but we got this! I tell myself that good things take time.

oh that’s great! No I didn’t, I only applied to USCGA, USAFA and USNA. Oh yes being busy is the best, I’m going to have a busy two weeks so hopefully something by then. Late March-April 15th is when a ton of appointments will come out so 🤞🏼🤞🏼

It feels good to know they have one secured.....all that free time is now spent planning to get everything needed to get him there now!

Good Morning 51 ,

It is a nice cool ( for us) Hawaiian morning. This week is lining up to be super busy with sports again so if no answers at least we have that to keep us going. DS and I are going to read up on his plan B to make sure we didnt miss any deadlines. I believe the school wanted a deposit to hold the spot. He is still awaitng to hear back from ROTC which has been more frustrating then SA's to tell you the truth. We have visited units, talked to all the people, done all the things and still waiting. I told him if for whatever reason he doesnt get the scholarship his first year will be ok without it. the unit is open for him to get into and everything else we will just handle as it comes. DS is our first one to go to college and what a ride it is to get them to those goals. Happy Wednesday !!

rejected - John Hopkins 😓😓

Sorta bummed but not really, it was a school to see where I’d be in terms of ivy day and other decisions. Doesn’t seem good, but it’s ok. Theres no time to worry about what you can’t do, only time to worry about what you can do.

I’m sorry to hear about JH. You are right - no time to worry as your perfect fit is still out there! I remember with DS #1 those first rejects stung more (he reached for a few schools) but then the place you are meant to be will come into focus better and better. He didn’t get his USNA TWE until the end of April. I don’t know how we made it that long but we did! Just continue to be open - I have no doubt you will bloom wherever you are planted! He is thriving at “Plan F or G” - couldn’t imagine him elsewhere but it was by far not an original top choice …..

Yes! The Journey IS the Destination. Each step along the way serves a purpose, perhaps not obvious today or tomorrow but someday it all makes sense.

It's been very interesting to observe DS's process during senior year, seeing his interest in various schools ebb and flow and ultimately seeing that he may end up somewhere that would not have even been open for discussion at the outset. Surprising, but in a very good way. As you said, the process is different for everyone, but ultimately has the same goal -- to lead you to the right place for YOU!

good morning day 51! finally got my math teacher rec figured out and the lady at admissions said she released my app so hopefully it's moving on to the next steps!
did she give any indication when they would be looking at CO again? I wondered if they were looking at Region 4 (western states) last week, but the only updates seemed to be for CA/WA/OR, which are under a different admissions counselor than CO (CO is lumped in w/Alaska, HI, WY, etc)- and it seems there has been very little movement from the states in the part of the "western" region...
