Hi all,

Just wanted to ask if y'all recommend taking the SAT again. My current score is a 1450 (750 Math, 700 EBRW), but I'm hoping I can get into the 1500+ range. However, I've already taken the SAT three times (two of which I did not study for, :( ) and I'm also going into my senior year next year, so I'm not really sure if I should take it again or leave it as is. Is a 1450 decent enough for the SAs (assuming my academics and ECAs are up to par), or should I go for it again and try to get a 1500? Thanks in advance!

1450 seems to be good. I got a 31 on the ACT which goes to be a 1440 on the SAT, and my ACT is still above the mid-50% point for ACT scores in admissions

i didn't get in for the class for 2025 but I'm planning on reapplying next year. My SAT was a 1410 (730 Math, 680 ERBW) and I have taken it 4 times to get to this number. Should I take it again to increase the score or is 1410 competitive? Also, Im going to college in the fall so I don't know if I will have time to retake it.

SAT/ACT scores are the first gateway for the admission process and are a huge part of the WCS. Never leave any chips on the table when you submit your application. My suggestion is always try to get the best scores possible.

Evaluate missed problems. Study. Practice. Retake.

I'm pretty sure 1450 puts you in the 99th percentile of people that took the test at the same time. If you do decide to retake I would just concentrate on the math. Since most academies weigh the math portion heavier.

Also if you look at some stats for WP in most admitted classes year in and year out people who score 1400 and above are in the top 20 to 30 percent of cadets.

Take it again. No brainer. It's worth way too much considering you've only studied for it once. Study up more on the English since your math is pretty darn good already. You're locked in at least for a 750 on the math regardless. Math counts for more, so that's a thing to be happy about.

Are both ACT and SAT counted or is it the highest one of the two? Asking cause my ACT score is really high but I kind of struggle with the SAT.

Highest score will be taken. So they would take only your act into consideration.

I was the same way. I did pretty well on the ACT and sucked on the SAT, so I decided to put all of my effort into the ACT. I studied a ton and worked with a tutor 3 or 4 times to bring up my weaker areas (reading and science). I took the test in December of my junior year and crushed it which was awesome because I never had to worry about it again.

^^Case and point. If it's not a 1600, you CAN raise it! Keep working at it. Not saying the SA's put any weight on this, but it definitely shows grit and determination to take the test again, even if your score is already competitive. Best of luck!

By the way, if you do retake, evaluate your routine. Use a different study guide or video and you might pick up a tip or two that helps. Doing the same thing over and over will likely lead to similar results....and I'll save you the insanity quote.
