If you are reapplying, is it bad to reuse the essay you submitted last year? While I have no problem taking the time to rewrite it, not many of my ideas on the essay questions have changed and so I don't really have much to add to it. If the admissions board (or more likely a nominating committee) happens to remember my essay will it be looked down upon that I didn't change it?

IMHO I would not reuse essays from a previous year. Your file is still your file. Those are recycled essays and may show lack of effort on your part. But, that is just my two cents.

I actually just answered my own question by simply reading the instructions for the personal statement. It specifically notes that reapplicants must submit a new one. Thanks anyways for the help!

The other thing is that, hopefully, you have matured from the person you were a year ago. That's not to knock the h.s. senior you were, but you're now a college freshman. A lot changes. That should/would be reflected in your essay.
