My son received a nomination to USMA but after review they decided not to pick up a waiver for a dislocated elbow in his history (fully recovered w/ all docs in the DODMERB file). He is now pursuing an AROTC scholarship.

Does anyone know if having a pending DQ status with DODMERB will impact his ability to get the AROTC scholarship?

They won't see his Dodmerb file until after he has been offered the scholarship from what I understand. It won't affect him getting the scholarship, but could affect him keeping the scholarship if they don't waive it.

It may or may not. USMA and ROTC have different waiver review boards, as I understand it, and are known to waiver different things. He will likely be DQ'd by AROTC as well, but if he receives a scholarship, they will automatically request a waiver for him.

If we DQd for that condition, he is DQd for all programs where there is an active application.

Waiver decisions/processes are described on the DoDMERB website. Questions About The Process, tab in the home page. Paragraphs 11-21

ROTC does not request information from DodMERB on candidates' medical status unless the candidate has already been offered an ROTC scholarship. After he receives the scholarship, ROTC will consult with DodMERB and find out that the candidate is DQ'd.
