I have already reached out to the Enrollment Officer at the battalion of my top choice transfer school for more info, however, any more information y'all could give would be helpful. FYI: Currently a Frosh at USAFA, looking to go Army ROTC

How does the MS year system work with transfers?
How do scholarships work with non first year students?
Any difficulties or culture shocks from switching branches?

Lastly, could someone better explain the active/reserve/guard options and how they work? I was doing some reading and I have only confused myself.

Thanks,

Will you switch, if there is no scholarship for you? You have mentioned being debt free is a driver for you.

IDK if you wil get answers to such specific questions here. Not a top trending subject matter. I do hope you have reached out to others, as suggested in your ‘transfer or not‘ thread. Lots of good advice there, at least things to consider.

My priorities right now are school first, money second. Whether that money be merit based, or from ROTC, I do not know. However, I do know what my ambitions are, and where I will and wont find them.

For your first two questions "How does the MS year system work with transfers? How do scholarships work with non first year students?"

I would reach out to an Army ROTC unit. They can answer as it is similar to if you were a normal sophomore at XYZ school and wanted to started Army ROTC.

As for your third question, I would assume there are quite a bit of differences, both in available jobs, culture etc. As a Navy person, I feel very lost hearing my Coasties or army officer friends talk about their branch.

With that said, you've only been in the "military world" for one semester. Any change will be different at first, but you could quickly pick things up learning about the culture etc
