SAT/ACT Cancellations Causing Issues?

My SAT just got cancelled for August and it’s the third time I’ve had to reschedule. Is there any way to advance with my AROTC scholarship to become an interviewee even with the SAT/ACT scores seeming to halt progress?

Nope, according to those "in the know" here on the boards. I was hoping they would switch to allowing the ASVAB, but they haven't. I have been fortunate that my area is now scheduling testing. Whether it stays that way and they don't get cancelled remains to be seen

I don’t know how practical this is, but is it possible to travel to a less COVID-afflicted area, maybe in another part of your state even to take the SAT? I wonder whether there’s a way to look up what places they are still giving the test

I’ll check again with Cadet Command.
I wish they would take away the SAT requirement and replace it with a high emphasis on academic history and standing. The SAT requirements adheres progress tremendously and even then, it’s hard to get a super score because testing is so hard to get. I tried scheduling for the SAT and ACT is 3 different states since local areas were cancelled as well and in all 3 states they were cancelled too.

I would agree, but there are also a lot of people who haven’t taken that and it would probably be as hard as the SAT to schedule or organize for those who would need the ASVAB.

What state are you in?

there is a way on the site to look it up, but pretty much we are stuck with what are state BOE is saying. Many parts of our state (Maryland) aren't going back to face to face or hybrid until January)

You may have look beyond Maryland

quote from my mother "and when does it become unreasonable to do so? " VA and Delaware are in the same boat as us. I'm sorry, I am just as frustrated as the original poster. So many of us are in the same boat. I am crossing my fingers that the tests I have signed up for will happen, but I'm not hopeful

Same, but even then it’ll be hard to get a good score unless you can do the SAT in one sittings and excel. The current situation doesn’t allow for growth.

I just checked...here in our area there are tons of ACT testing dates. Some say ‘added due to Covid’. So maybe it is a geographical thing?

If I can assist at all with this in the Midwest, shoot me a message. I’ll do what I can. Sure going to be an interesting year!!

We have them as well in my area. I am hearing of candidates flying cross country to take the test. Improvise - a plane ticket and a hotel room is a small price to pay for improving your scores and getting a slot. With that being said - I feel for the class of 2025 - tough spot to be in.

that's great I guess for those that can afford that

It sucks because it’s a big hitter for those who can’t afford to do that. A 60-70 dollar test shouldn’t have to cost even more.....some people like me can’t even afford the test let alone a plane ticket. We can’t even take a car there because the gas is another cost and we also wouldn’t have that kind of time due to the start of school.

I get it and I hate it. PM me with where you live (state) and let me do some research for you.

I didn't say it was an ideal scenario. You have a problem.....The standardized tests are cancelled in your AO. I was merely offering an option. Have you looked into states surrounding you (driving distance) that may be offering the test?

You don’t have to but I live on the East Coast in VA. To my knowledge anything within a reasonable car distance has their tests cancelled due to cases or a lack of approval as a safe environment to administer the test.
