Hello all,

I was wondering something,
let's say I took the SAT in went down in math but went up in reading. Would they think anything about my score going down in that one category or am I just being hard paranoid?

My composite score is the more or less the same but this time I did very well the reading category, so I could really use the super score. I guess that's what I get for not buying a graphing calculator :p

USNA superscores, from what I have read on the forum. This means that your score in either category will only go up, not down.

From what I have read there is no penalty for a lower score. USNA super scores and takes the best English and Math from all tests taken. In fact, I believe they super (duper) score in that they convert all scores to SAT (or ACT, not sure which), so if your highest math score is on the SAT and your highest English score is on the ACT your superscore will be a combo of the two different exams.

Lots on the thread regarding this. Here is one good discussion.

I believe it is the reading score they take and math. It is the ACT V and M scores.

The only exception to the superscoring is if USNA thinks you purposely tanked one section of the SAT (e.g., math or verbal) in order to improve the other. So, for example, if your initial scores were 600/600 and your new set was 300/700, they might not count the 700 b/c it looks like you didn't even try on the verbal in order to concentrate on the math.

However, it has to be a "tank." The fact that one score went down somewhat . . . that can happen and wouldn't preclude USNA from taking the higher score from the new set.
