Hey Guys
So I just got an email saying I received a 4 year Navy option NROTC Scholarship. Should I accept it now? It says I have to submit it before the date listed in my letter, which will not be sent to me for approximately 2 weeks, and I am still waiting on the status of my AFROTC scholarship, college application, and my service academy applications. I don't want to accept it hastily and mess with my chances of receiving any of the latter but at the same time I don't want to wait to long and not be able to accept the scholarship. How long is normally given to respond to scholarship offers?
Thanks in advance

You will normally have 30 days from when the letter is dated.
However, do not fear accepting it. Accepting it does NOT hurt your chances of getting others, or academy appointments. Other will confirm this as well.

The amount of time you have to respond is normally 30 days from the date the letter was sent.
You should accept the scholarship now. Let's explore the scenarios you seem to be concerned about.
1. Waiting on AFROTC status... if you win an AFROTC scholarship you can accept that and inform Navy you wont be using theirs.
2. Waiting on college application... if you are not accepted to the college you can try to transfer your scholarship. No guarantees but they will do their best
3. Waiting on academy applications... you can accept the academy appointment and inform NROTC you won't be using their scholarship. Many people hang on to a ROTC scholarship until they actually report to the academy in case of injury etc.
