Happy 4th Weekend to all,

DS is in the process of submitting NROTC-MO and AROTC scholarship applications. We are also researching colleges and planning summer visits and have noticed in various ROTC links on College websites with what appears to be options for scheduling a scholarship Interview at the specific college. Do applicants have the option of scheduling an interview at a specific college instead of through their home district and if so, will the interview results be shared with the board to cover all 5 college choices? Would a student be required to list that interview college as a first choice?

We have several college tours scheduled this summer so the order of top 5 is not established yet until tours are done.

Is this a more efficient and option as contact with district recruiting has been spotting and inconsistent. DS is considering BC, Villanova, VT, Ohio State, Indiana U, UMD and a few others.

Thank you for your guidance

The results of an AROTC interview would be submitted to the board that reviews scholarship applications. Only one formal interview is required though it wouldn't be harmful to schedule an informal meeting with a cadre member at the school you are visiting. (Keep in mind that many cadre members may be away on temporary assignments during the summer. The best person to contact would be the ROO or the admin. asst. to the PMS).

It is not necessary to have the formal interview at any particular school. For convenience, the interview could be held at the closest school, even one you are not applying to. (My son interviewed at the local state university and ended up with a scholarship at a private school which was in another state and AROTC brigade.

The NROTC-MO scholarship interview is not done on a college campus. It is done by a Marine coordinating officer at a local Marine Corps office. My DS was immediately contacted by a Marine officer soon after he started his application on line. His interview is next week.
