SEALs/Kings Point?

NYBear-thank you and Lynpar I was being facetious! The thread was begun with a simple question and should have ended a couple of pages in:shake:

Couldn't have said it better myself, NYBEAR. Lots of cranky losers with a lot of time on their hands.
Prospective KP students and their parents should pay attention to the positive aspects about USMMA that are discussed on this forum. As a parent of a current Mid (2015), I wish I would've done that early on rather than read the rantings of a vocal minority about the problems at or with the school. My son has had an enormously positive and life-changing experience at KP so far. I am constantly in awe of what he's learning, what he is experiencing, and what kind of man he is becoming. I couldn't be more grateful that he was admitted and I know beyond any doubt he will graduate and serve his country with pride and integrity.
I was asked once what was my biggest regret about my time at KP. Hands down, it was not appreciating it while I was there.

A very sad thread has developed...

You are indeed right on --- how, where, and why so many seem to want to stray so, so far from a) the original question/subject - Can and how do I become a Commissioned Naval Special Warfare Officer (SEAL) out of USMMA? and b) Is it a "good" way to do so?

I would like to note the worst aspects of where this thread seems to have drifted a basic political debate as to why should we have a USMMA funded by taxpayers and what is right and wrong with the current curricula, etc. vs. the Maritime Industry needs seems to be a back and forth between two of my fellow USMMA alumni with valid data about the industry and strong opinions and biases and a group of folks who have their own opinions about Service vs. Military Academies, Federal Funding of same, and a host of other related topics. None of which in any of their cases, including my two USMMA shipmates posts, provides useful information answering the OP question.

In case at some point someone comes here looking for answers and information to those questions the most direct information addressing them is found in posts #32 and #40 of this thread (thank you sir for your contribution); posts #3, #4, and #5 also provided answers and information on the subject.

Post #27 by Bruno provided absolutely dead nuts on thoughts especially in light of the almost 100 off topic posts, many of which are indeed, IMO, as NYBEAR noted ranting, and negativity .... Bruno - I stand corrected and take back what I said:

Finally, this thread might not have or continue to be the right place to discussion the mission but each forum seems like a straightforward, appropriate place to post questions about and discuss the topic. And the third, fourth and fifth posts in response to the OP's original question directly answered the questions and provided current information, so has there really been any harm in having the discussion here?

In fact the way this thread exploded and went downhill so fast I wish I hadn't contibuted the two prior posts that I had to this melee. Happy Holidays to all and to the OP jct95 I wish you well in whatever you do/decide and I'm sorry you had to wade through so much junk for five good inputs and pieces of information in regards to your question.
