Second Interview With USAFA?

I just had my nomination interview for my house rep, and the woman who did the interview (not a member of the representative's staff, but a military person they brought in for interviews) said "once I had the nomination" USAFA would want to interview me again. She made it sound like this interview would be more formal and more intense. I haven't seen anything similar to this.
Is someone confused here? Maybe I misunderstood her, or maybe she confused one thing with another?
Any light shed on this topic would be appreciated.

My DS received a call from Colorado Springs in late February, 2020. The call was from a Lt Col wanting to interview him again, as they were "splitting hairs" between DS and another candidate. It seems too early in the selection process for this to be what is happening, but maybe.
Also, does your MOC select a principle nom, or rank their noms? Not trying to get your hopes up, but maybe this is what is happening and USAFA will still want to approve the selection with another round of interviews. Good luck!

Wow. Talk about pressure!

Wow, never heard of this, good to know!

Yes. But, by this time he already nailed his interview with a Col for an AFROTC scholarship. He was all but given the scholarship on the spot. By the time the second interview came around, he had Plan B all locked up and was feeling pretty confident.

I have never heard of anything like this coming from USAFA. Was this Lt Col actually from USAFA/RRS (Admissions) or some other entity?

I believed it to be admissions, with Colorado Springs showing up on his caller ID. I could be wrong though.

I have never heard of this either. The only reason I could think is that if there were some question about application packet admissions wanted clarification on or if a Coach called to discuss a spot on a team. One of my candidates got a call from the XC coach out of the blue to discuss walking on the team if they are appointed.
