Selection Committee for USAFA

Hello all,

Almost two weeks ago, I received a nomination to USAFA due to a mistake made by my Congresswoman back in September. I was told by admissions that I would be sent back to the selection committee to be looked at a second time. My ALO informed me that I was a female diversity candidate with a strong leadership and have a good chance of some offer (prep, falcon scholarship), but not a guaranteed appointment because the class was almost full. Do you think that I will hear back later than other candidates?

Sounds like there is a possibility that you may hear back a little later than others. Just a thought, but I believe the Superintendent has a certain number of appointments allocated to him personally, perhaps you could gain one of these. I think there is someone on the selections committee that watches this forum, perhaps they will put in a good word for you. Due to the unique nature of your situation, they probably will know who you are, due to your initial description.

I haven't seen the posts you're mentioning. Did someone from USAFA/RRS come on the forums and say this?

Because unless it came from RRS...

UPDATE: My ALO forwarded me a message that she got from the ALO director from my state saying that this weekend MOST first-round candidates will receive appointment by this weekend. Sometime after this weekend the second-round candidates will be notified. He did not specify how long the second-round appointments would take, nor if they will come out in a mass batch or trickle in. Also, my ALO director confirmed that this year the application process was pushed into April "for some reason", and that normally first-round offers are completed in March.

If you do not hear back yet, keep the faith! Just because you do not hear back this weekend does not mean you are not in.

I apologize if this isn’t what they read, though I haven’t seen anything else regarding a later admissions cycle.

JimShorty has the post right, I wasn't trying to speak on behalf of Admissions or anything, just passing on what was reported on the other thread.

I was only asking because I'm in fairly constant contact with the folks up at USAFA/RRS because of my ALO job. That being said, I certainly do NOT know everything and am not in the admissions decisions loop other than what an ALO does. I'm just wary of posts that state dates, timeframes, etc., unless they come from USAFA/RRS. This is a difficult time of waiting, wondering, second-guessing...I'd hate to affect that in any way.
