Senior Classes

Hi, guys! So I am a rising senior and planning out my course schedule for next year. I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on my plan and if you think whether or not I should add dual enrollment class or two. (If you do, what class would you add?) Keep in mind I attend a homeschool co-op, so unfortunately I don't have a super wide selection of AP classes to take. Please give me your thoughts on if my schedule is "rigorous enough" if you know what I mean! ;)

AP Calculus
AP Lit
Honors Physics
Honors Chemistry
Honors Gov and Econ
Dual Enroll Computer Science

Looking at possibly dual enrolling Western Thought and Culture. Would that be a good add? (Also kinda want to dual enroll Criminal Justice because that sounds like fun haha.) Just want to show a homeschool gal can handle a college like load! Thanks everyone <33
 
oh my those are some difficult classes! If you want to do criminal justice do it! Just don't overwhelm yourself with the classes, and still have fun! Don't take classes you think would look "good". If you are really interested in the subject, take it! As for the classes that's alot of stem and I think the SAs would love it. If you have the chance to take AP physics I would take the opportunity. You will learn alot more, and will give you the rigor of a college stem class! As for others I think they are really good!
 
While I don't know what your prior academic record looks like, this looks good enough to me, even without your dual enrollments. My senior schedule only had 6 courses, only 3 of which were academic core subjects, and well, I got an appointment, so this year's course load for you looks rigorous enough.

In addition, if you think you can handle those dual enrollments and still excel across the board, go for it! I wouldn't say you need to, but you definitely can.
 
Everything looks good to me! Similar to my senior schedule next year except instead i'm taking AP Gov and AP Environmental instead of Physics, Chem, and Comp Science. Well... maybe not so similar. Now that I look closer, are you planning on taking any math courses?

Great! Sorry I must've skipped over that. USAFA will look at the classes you have available and whether or not you're taking the highest (most rigorous) ones. So don't worry if you don't have a wide selection of AP's that are offered to you. You're in good shape :)

Awww thank you :) Yes, taking the AP courses my co-op offered except AP physics. I was wanting to take it, however the class at my school is known to be a disaster, and so many people have told me to set my self up for success and take the honors physics instead. A little worried not taking the AP one will hurt me, but I’d rather have a good working knowledge of the subject than simply have an AP credit and not a good handle on it. Fingers crossed that wasn’t a mistake!

My DD's high school, the physics teacher is the same no matter which course. Is it the same there?

I don't think that's a mistake, I wish I'd taken honors Physics before I jumped to AP. I felt way behind everyone who had taken regular/honors Physics before.

Wow my school doesn't off anything other than so Physics. Nothing regular or honors just AP

That looks like a good schedule. I'm also a homeschooled co-op attendee (in the past). I opted for the DE route over the AP route, as I didn't have any AP available. If you test high enough on the AP exams, I believe you can validate them at the Academy. I ended up taking up through calc III dual enrolled, and I have to say that calc I was one of my favorite math classes as it opens the door to a whole new field of math.

Just a side note, you will likely have to create a course description list for all your homeschool classes (not including the DE classes, not sure about AP). My mother, quite endearingly I may add, called it the "30 hour document" for obvious reasons.
