Separated Cadet Account Money

I was separated back in June of 2019, and while outprocessing I was told multiple times that I would receive the remainder of the money from my cadet account two months after my final departure date. It has now been almost 6 months and after numerous unanswered phone calls and emails, I still have not received any of the money. I am just wondering if this is just a delay to Covid or if its just a normal West Point thing that the money never comes. Thank you for any help in advance!

I doubt anyone here would know what the issue is in your particular case. Try a different phone number and see if you can get routed to the correct place? Seems odd you're phone calls are not being answered. Any chance it's a wrong number?

I know the finance is doing mostly teleworking from because of Covid, so they are not in the office.

Even remote, the finance dept should have access to all their systems and conduct business as usual. I think with all these things being a unique situation, you best bet is to call the finance dept.

It might be time for a written letter in a business format to the Commandant that documents, in a professional and neutral tone, your understanding of your pay situation, your attempts to follow up by email and calls (not in a blaming way, just the facts) and requesting a review and resolution of your case within 30 days, providing your contact info and thanking him for his attention to this matter. You can note your understanding of how COVID has impacted routine business matters.

Written letters have a more serious impact, theoretically they require an answer, and provide proof for you that you have attempted to resolve this. As it is, phone calls/voice mails are difficult to substantiate, and I hope you keep your sent emails. The Commandant will staff this out to the officer who oversees cadet pay.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Reportedly, secondary accounts are frozen. The majority of current Cadets are unable to use their "Top-Off" feature. This came at an unfortunate time. Recently the Finance Office has experienced some significant delays in processing many/most requests. As noted above, a written inquiry will probably carry more weight.

Wish you the best with this but it will probably be a bit before things shake loose.
