I have a question. I recently applied for SLS, but I know that my SAT scores were not that strong (1800), but my ACT was pretty good (29 composite), so my question is that if I am not accepted,

how would I go about applying to other academy programmes? I know I want to apply to USMA for college, and likely not USAFA or USNA because I am more interested in becoming a part of the US army. So when and if I apply for their summer programmes because I would still like the experience, would I have to open a candidate file with them to? And if so, is that okay if I do not plan on applying to those academies?

Also, should I be calling about status of my application? I applied the 6th, I believe because I had been waiting on my Dec ACT scores.

The other academies that offer summer seminars are also available to apply online. If you have trouble finding one, just ask on that forum. Navy's application window doesn't open up until Feb 1. USAFA's is already open.

You do not have to complete any application that you don't wish to. You may be contacted at some point by admissions or a BGO/ALO to ask what your plans are, but there is no obligation. Once my son got his LOA from Navy, he stopped his WP application at the point he was at then, and just never did any more. Many, many candidates each year do not complete their files.

That said, keep your mind open to other possibilities and you may even find yourself considering whatever seminar you attend even more!

Edited to add that I would definitely give them more than two days to process your SLS application! I'd probably wait a week or two to contact them, since they're very busy right now with 2014 applications as well!
