Service Selection Day

Congrats to you and your DD. My son, who will be applying to USNA, has told me that he would like to serve in Marine Air. Frankly, I don't know what that would entail. Helos? Ospreys? Would you please give me your description of the duties/airframes for Marine Air?

Thanks, she's excited.

Hurricane12 would obviously be a better source but THIS LINK gives a picture of the airframes. The missions are pretty straight forward: fighters, close in air support, transporting marines and equipment. Right now, DD is leaning towards Huey's but that can (and probably will) change as she progresses through flight school. And, even that is following 6 months at TBS.

Wow! So your daughter is (will be) a Marine Officer. VERY Cool.

Congrats to you and your DD, osdad! That's AWESOME! :thumb:

This thread caught my eye, as DD (now a Plebe) joined the Class of 2017 saying fairly firmly: "I am going Marine" [thinking ground].
Then, with some input during Plebe Summer and first academic semester said: "Navy Pilot -- my CyberOps thing and the Growlers -- I want to do that."
Now she is looking at all flying options. I am just sitting back and enjoying the virtual ride :)
