Service Selection

DS is a 1/C awaiting service selection. They were originally told they would find out next week, mid October. Now they've been told not for another 3 weeks so probably early November. Heard the delay is result of covid. Just wondering if anyone else has heard the same. #FlyNavy

I haven't heard anything about that, but that sounds like the likely cause. DS was supposed to have his nuke interview (remotely) this week and that was also pushed back to November. I wonder if they are trying to get those interviews done before service selection in order to plug the nuke selects in the proper places.

1/C MIDN at the Virginia Military Institute, we recieved word (from MIDN in other units) that we would be getting assignments this week.

Last week my NROTC unit was told it would be this Friday. The most recent update from this morning, received over the weekend, is it is now expected around Oct 21-23.

From my unserstanding, VMI has been left in the dark... where is everyone getting their info from?

DS unit has a meeting scheduled with all 1/C tomorrow at 1130 ET as all assignments for all NROTC are to be released tomorrow morning at 1000 CT....came from his unit.

DS was service assigned Pilot. First choice. 5 from his unit got the pilot slot. Over the moon, as my older DS is already a Navy helo pilot. Couldn't be prouder.

Congratulations! His interview was scheduled for a couple weeks ago, but was rescheduled. It's too bad for all participating in these interviews that they are being done virtually this year. Taking a trip to DC for them sounds like a great experience.
