Should I buzz myself before BCT?

Pretty insignificant and silly but I've heard some dissenting opinions on this question

On one hand you save some time at I-day and can get used to it before going in.

On the other, I heard that its a fun bonding activity with your future brothers.

Any thoughts?

I say wait for them to shave it. You and your future brothers can kiss your luscious locks away, together.

If you currently have hair over your ears, it’s not a bad idea get some sun on your ears prior to BCT.

The sun especially at altitude can be brutal to previously unexposed skin.

Haha save time on I-Day that's a good one haha. You won't "save time" we have you on schuedle don't worry. Everyone moves with someone so if you're not getting it cut you're waiting on the rest of the group. You'll just be getting yelled at no matter what.

Hair might be the only break you get sitting in the seat vs outside waiting. Enjoy the experience come in without it shaved.

Now this does differ if you know you have sensitive skin/scalp. Like people who get waivers because shaving everyday is painful for facial hair. Then I recommend shaving it yourself to avoid at least one small aspect. Unlikely this is the case but may apply to someone.

Welcome to the academy in June, best of luck.

We buzzed the first time and he got re-shaved anyway :) Second time they had fun in the chair with their friends. Only time you really draw any additional attention is if you show up with color or a crazy cool mullet/mohawk and even then it's not like it used to be. So many kids turn up already buzzed that you will fit in either way and it's kind of part of the whole I-Day process that gets everyone bonding laughing and pulling funny faces for the WebGuy photographers so your family can see.

Enjoy the experience..

Our Cadet had his shaved by all friends before he reported for I-day. That was an awesome memory to have. He still had it shaved again on I-day and received no extra attention, because he showed up already shaved.

I'd suggest just getting a short/close haircut, but not a buzz cut, a few weeks before, especially if you have a fair complexion. That way your family will still enjoy the WebGuy pics of you getting the haircut.

No, do not do it!!
Wait and enjoy the experience. DS waited and was glad he did. 2027

Let USAFA do it. You could invite unwanted attention going in all shaved up.
Had mine buzzed to about a 4 when I showed up cause I thought it would be fun to have my high school friends do it. Absolutely no extra attention because of it.

The only advantage to cutting your hair ahead of time is so your parents can get pictures of it from all angles, especially quartering away so the can better find Waldo on web guy. If you know, you know🤣

Nice try helping them avoid the eye strain of the 450 pages of Waldo searching. What else are they supposed to do at their work computer all day?!? :)
