Should I just rescind USNA Application?

Didn't receive a nomination from my senators/congressman. I did apply for the VP nomination, but realistically there's nearly a zero percent chance that I get that. I know that I qualify for the NAPS pool, however I'm not a D1 athlete, and I'm also a college applicant. Should I just rescind my application? It says "Complete Pending Review" but I'm confident they've already seen my application, and since there are people currently being admitted on a daily basis, I believe my chances are completely shot.

Don't give up hope until April 15th. Many are in your same boat.

personally, I wouldn’t rescind the application. just keep waiting. who knows what will happen. besides it doesn’t hurt to just keep the application alive. We still have this whole month for decisions to be announced :) !!!
I’m in the same boat, so I understand the wait is difficult, that the worry and doubt may set in, but just keep going and stay patient !

Thank for for the feedback! I understanding rescinding makes my odds go to 0%, but has someone in my position ever been accepted to the USNA?

Sure they have. There is the VP Nom, NAPS and Foundation. Why ruin those chances? Also, if you eventually want to reapply how would you explain that you rescinded it because you thought you had ‘no chance’. They want to see those who have grit. If this is what you want, stay in the game and if it’s no, come back stronger and better.

I am confused, what do you get by rescinding your application? Are you trying to trying to break up with them before they break up with you. Let them say no. What is the rush

You cannot possibly predict the outcome. Do not fall on your sword. If and when a decline happens revisit, do after action report and reapply.

Does NAPS accept college applicants?
I assume it does, I jsut got offered a prep school slot for the Air Force prep school and I am a college te applicant. Dude hang in there, don’t withdraw your application. Literally no purpose to do so. If you get denied oh well, learn from It, but don’t deny yourself, let the academy deny you. Don’t give up dude. I was just offered a prep school Slot yesterday! Have hope!

Don’t rescind your application and hibernate yourself from this forum. You have done your best. This forum right now now is not helping you psychologically. Just be back after Aprill 15 News. At present..you are under the mercy of the holies and reverends of the almighty admission office. You can’t do anything right now but pray

NAPS isn't strictly offered to athletes. It's often attended by qualified applicants the Academy sees as a good fit but who may need a bit more work in a certain course & can benefit from a year at the prep school.

Remember, you are in it until you are not. I know it's hard to truly understand, however the admissions process is unbelievably complicated and nobody outside of that group really understand it. They work extremely hard to paint the mosaic big picture. You may be just the pixel to fit in a certain spot. Continue to pursue a solid Plan B, C etc.

Does NAPS accept college applicants?
To be clear "NAPS" does not accept anyone -- there is no separate NAPS Admissions Board. The USNA Admissions Office determines who gets an offer to attend NAPS. What trigger's the NAPS offer is one of life's great unknowns -- sure, there is plenty of speculation and ancedotal comments here, but it is largely a function of Admission's discretion. If they see something special in you-you have a chance.

Don’t rescind. I’m also a college re applicant. So I’m still waiting and constantly get nervous every time I see a NAPS offer being given out of an appointment to the re applicants that I have seen. I’ve received a nom and play a D1 sport with two other D2 sports and I haven’t heard back. So let’s just stay patient and just hope USNA gives us an opportunity!

DD in same boat. Time running out quick. Is April 15th the "point of no return" for notification, or is it April 1st? Looking forward to the process being over! DD thought about rescinding just to get on with planning.

There is no upside to rescinding your app other than "they can't reject me, i reject them."
You should have a plan B in place anyway and this will not affect it.

The Upside of keeping your app is :
You may get a VP nom.
You may want to apply again and rescinding your app doesn't say "I am committed to this".
