Hello, I’ve posted before regarding sideloads NROTC - MO -
- from a few - it sounds as though - some might not be notified until June. Would the MOI - know at this point? Or, are they waiting for the acceptances for the 4 year winners?
Thanks for anyone’s thoughts - even if it’s speculation.:)

I don't think the boards even happen until the summer. I would simply ask the MOI if they know when the board date is. If the MOI already knew your scholarship status they either:
1. Would have informed you, or
2. Are waiting until a particular date to announce it (probably based on higher level considerations). In that case they aren't going to tell you until then anyway Orders is orders.

Thank you Kinnem. No word from the MOI. I know it’s very competitive and only a few slots. Hoping for a sideload - - if not offered - will hope to receive advanced standing, if not - will march on to PLC. Thank you for your time.

@Vamountains Does that mean the MOI doesn't know what the board date is?
Your plan exactly matches DS's when he was going for his side-load fall semester of sophomore year. He got the side-load and is serving in Oki today. I hope you get YOUR side-load. Would love to hear one way or the other.

The MOI - isn’t conveying any information - except those in the mix could hear in June, that is information , but not a firm date.
My concern is if not offered advanced standing this June - I will need to move forward with PLC - and hope that works out. I saw a post in another thread that talked about PLC - very motivating. Needed to edit - to end on a positive Thank you again for reply.

No worries. I'm always willing to help... especially a future Marine! I'm sure the MOI is telling you as much as he can. The dates for these boards are always loose and flexible.

Are you a sophomore or freshman? Actually, it doesn't matter. Even if you're a sophomore and do n0t achieve advanced standing you've got plenty of time to set up PLC if needed. You could do it in 12 weeks the summer between junior and senior year. The first 6 weeks would be PLC 1, the second six would be the same Bulldog course the NROTC contracted kids go through. In fact, the PLC kids are able to help the NROTC kids initially as they already have experience at Quantico and how things work. They're mixed together in the same companies. I suppose with your NROTC experience you MAY even be able to skip PLC 1, but that's just guesswork on my part.

Kinnem Sir, I’m fast approaching the end of my sophomore year. I have a hopeful but realistic approach. I’m a long distance runner, which helps. Some of my friends are going the PLC route - that aren’t doing ROTC -
Glad to have another option to look toward-but still hopeful. Thank you again for your time.

@Vamountains Well, maybe you can answer a question for me, because it comes up from time to time here on the forum. Do they still use the sideload scholarship application as the advanced standing application if one is denied a scholarship? Or is it a separate application process. I've heard different things lately. Seems like you would be in a position to know.

From my understanding - it’s the same application - same board. If not offered a sidelaod - then- hopefully advanced standing - but - maybe not. Not sure how many slots are for advanced standing - maybe only one for the sideload - but none for advanced standing?
Stiff competition.

Always is. Good luck and thanks for the answer.
