Hello,
As I'm applying to SLE program tomorrow as a junior in high school, I would like to ask several questions:
1. Few months ago, I emailed one of the Admission staff/officer at USMA about my naturalization process and whether if I can still apply as a permanent resident (my citizenship will be coming out few months prior to applying to service academies). And they told me that they can view individual candidates (like me) on case-by-case basis. So I did email them back few weeks ago about how can I apply as a permanent resident (meaning w/o citizenship and yes, I do have social security number); however, I still haven't heard back from them yet. My question is, just like the USNA's summer seminar application where you can state whether if you are immigrant, permanent resident, or U.S. citizen, does USMA application also ask for the naturalization status, stating whether if you are citizen or permanent resident, etc,.? *I did contact the staff/officer who sent me the email last time today but haven't heard back yet
2. When I entered the website (SLE section), I saw that the website for the candidate portal was open. But when I put in my Social Security number and my birthdate and clicked "Continue", it said "Your session has timed out. You will now be redirected to Admissions' Home Page". Is this suppose to happen because the official application has not been released yet?
3. Do I need teacher recommendation or any sort of recommendation (from counselor, etc,.) to apply?
4. Does the application asks for questions such as stating my interest for the summer program (I believe Naval Academy's summer seminar application did ask for this)?
5. Does the SLE application open on midnight? Or does it open in the morning/afternoon (I'm currently residing in California and the time is based on Pacific Standard Time (PST).)
Thank you so much and I will highly appreciate your response!
