The regimental calendar is on the USMMA website. You should defnitely visit for Parents Weekend. Plan to be there first thing Friday for morning colors until mid-afternoon Monday. That will be the first time your Plebe can have visitors and leave campus. This is the only time I would recommend trying to visit, at least during Plebe year. Also, Parents Weekend includes grandparents, siblings, and anyone else you want. (Keep in mind that your Plebe may not want a huge crowd.)
Your Plebe can come home for fall break which is one week long. This year it will be shortened by the requirement that they return for the football game against Coast Guard.
They also have Thanksgiving break. We live on the west coast, so we have not had our Mids home for Thanksgiving. We schedule our Thanksgiving celebration during fall break when they have more time and when flights are cheaper (though this year you never know). Your Plebe should have offers from classmates to join them somewhere closer to the Academy for Thanksgiving.
Christmas break is next and I would definitely bring your Plebe home. This is the one break where the Academy closes down and your Plebe has to leave. Keep in mind that winter sports may have required practices or competitions over Christmas break, so it may be short if your Plebe is in that category.
Spring break is next and is long enough to bring your Plebe home. Some Plebes arrange a trip together during this time, so yours may or may not want to come home.
For those who live a long (flying) distance from the academy, it will be very frustrating to plan travel. The finals schedule takes forever to come out, and they cannot leave until after their last final. So you will not be able to save money by booking flights early no matter how organized you are.
Summer break is only six weeks or so. I would recommend that your Plebe / M/N schedule INDOC duty during that first summer to get that requirement out if the way. They have to do it at least once during their time at KP. Of course that gives you even less time with them at home.
That's why I say to cherish the time you have with your Plebe Candidate to be now. It will be the last long stretch of time you will have with him/her.
