Son is in the class of 2025 and still on hold... any hope?

Yes. Understand that the report dates for the DoD Service Academies are earlier than USMMA. As a result, their entire admissions cycle is behind the huge waves you see here on SAF for the big 3 schools. Prior admissions cycles had a good deal of movement between today and 1 May. Appointment offers will continue to go out through June and into July. This is of no consolation to those still on HOLD status, but this quiet period is very normal.

The deck will clear and admissions will have great clarity on 1 May as a deadline to accept or decline. Once they know where they are in terms of accepted appointments, they can then go back to their waitlist to extend more offers until the class reaches a size they consider "full."

I was told by someone in the know that most individuals will know where they stand by this coming Friday. I was told that offers sometimes happen up until I Day but they are the exception not the rule.
DS is still on Hold as well and I fully expect him to get TWE on Friday. His grades, leadership positions, extracurricular activities are all fantastic. Covid made it difficult for him to take multiple SATs and his score wasn’t where it should’ve been and I believe that is what ultimately is the drawback to his application.

Hang tight, it ain't over for a while yet. If DS does not get an appointment he can still get a prep school sponsorship. My son got a prep offer from 2 SAs, one on April 16, 2020 and another May 29, 2020. If he gets a prep offer, I VERY STRONGLY encourage him to consider accepting. My DS went this route and just received his appointment after a year. I can say with confidence that this was the best option that could have happened. He is much more prepared from an academic, military life, maturity and leadership perspective. With prep you pretty much are set up for an appointment unless you bomb the academics or do something dumb. I also think you will show up to school ahead of your pears in preparation.
