I have read that they arent required, but does anyone have any recommendations for "sport watches" ? I have searched Amazon up and down but I cannot find ones that dont have some bit of metal on them. Links are appreciated!

Pg 15 of the Appointee Handbooks: Sports watch (rubber or soft plastic … NO metal)

G-Shock or Baby G-Shock for the ladies seems to be the most popular choice. They can have metal on the back of the watch. The strap and latch cannot have metal, though. Its a safety concern during BCT.

Bring a watch if you have one. The rules regarding whether or not you can wear one during BCT can change from one year to the next. During the last 2 or 3 years, watches have been recommended.

My DD got something like a cheap Timex, $15 bucks. She won't wear it after BCT so didn't invest too much into it.

Over at Army the general recommendation has been the Casio G-Shock, I'd guess it would work well for Air Force as well.

All Black is best- per AFI 36-2903(Dress and Appearance for Air Force Personnel):

7.3.1.3. Watches. Must be conservative and only one can be worn around the wrist while in uniform, PTG, or civilian attire in an official capacity. Conservative examples (not all inclusive) are solid color black, brown, silver or gold. Prohibited examples are diamond covered, neon, bright colors, and bands that exceed 1-inch width.

The two main watches are the Timex Ironman and the Casio G-Shock. Most ironman's are easier to read and have the chronograph as the main feature of the watch. The G-shocks are more durable though. If I had to pick I would get the ironman endure shock. It has the toughness of the G-shocks but is easier to read.

I'm personally considering ones with the black Velcro just to avoid the metal bits.

Is there allowed to be any metal? Most watches have a metal clasp...is that allowed??
Metal buckles are allowed so long as the wristband itself and the dial are not metal. Metal backs are perfectly fine. I’d personally stay away from clasp type watches as they can break while quickly making beds (shoving your hands in the metal bed frame) or can get filled with sand and debris if worn on the A-course (not recommended). Resin or polymer bands with buckle type fasteners are the way to go.

Off topic but my watch band broke on week 5 and I spent about 2 weeks with it held together by staples. It can be done!
