I would have to agree with
@MidCakePa here. This really won’t do any good for candidates, at least it won’t do better than the posted stats on the West Point website. You should be shooting for those goals and higher to make yourself as competitive as possible. Quite frankly, there are waaaay too many extraneous factors to be considered, including but not limited to Congressional district, recruitment status, race, gender, etc. Too many example of a seemingly perfect candidate on paper not receiving a nomination from their district when a candidate with lesser stats from another receives two.
In my opinion this thread would only serve to make candidates unnecessarily nervous and concerned with the stats of others when they only need to be concerned with bettering themselves as a candidate and doing well in school, sports, exams, etc. If you live in New York, for example, seeing Jimmy’s SAT score from rural Alabama is not going to help you. From someone who just finished this process and was blessed enough to reach the light at that end of the tunnel, just focus on you. Really. In the end, you can only control what you can control. The rest is out of your hands anyways and spending hours obsessing over numbers and stats and extracurriculars is wasteful. Spend those hours studying for your SAT or ACT. You’ll thank yourself later.
Note I’m only an appointed candidate and my only experience is the admissions process.
