PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEWhat does it most likely mean when the portal changes to CPR at this time in the process? You have everything turned in and submitted or that the admissions board has made their decision on recommendation and scoring and passed it on to the next step? I'm not stressing being CPR, I'm honestly curious how the process *seems* to work. I'm being patient and know this is a long road and I'm prepared for that. I'm just interested in the common trends of it all, even knowing not everyone's experience is the same. It's like baseball, you can follow the trends, look at the player's stats, figure out who you think the big hitters will be, but in the end you will never predict how the game will actually play out. It's still fun to analyze the data provided, even knowing it may not help in the end.
This sort of thing should go directly to admissions. My DS portal also says “Complete: Pending Review.” Can he still submit updates? For example, he is a finalist for Student of the Year - once he knows the results, can he/should he update his application? Or would he need to email his admissions team directly?
I'm not trying to read the tea leaves, I apologize if I asked the wrong question. My post was not trying to see the future or my chances. I don't have much faith in my chances, to be honest, but I'm giving it the best shot I can. I haven't been through this before, I was curious to know what, based on past experiences, it usually (I understand the process is different for some people) means when the portal switches like that. I have looked at past threads and learned the statuses who hit CPR early have mostly gone back to "pending" when they get a nomination and then back to CPR when their application is viewed again. My question was what it usually means (admissions has all info or admissions has viewed all info for recommendation) when portal changes to CPR since I couldn't find that answer. Again, I apologize and I understand I will never fully know how admissions works but I thought someone might have the answer to this. I used the baseball analogy to show even with what we assume is the answer, it still might be different for some applicants. I will wait it out, try finding what I can on my own, and won't ask here. I realize y'all have dealt with these questions year after year, but this is the first time for some of us and we are curious to learn the little information we can. Best of luck to all applicants this cycle.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
For all that your sanity might mean to you and your family, STOP trying to read those tea leaves. Over the past few cycles, CPR and other portal labels have gone back and forth and there was really no discernible pattern or meaning. You can look back at the old threads and see what I'm talking about.
Maybe I came on too strong or you're reading a much stronger voice than I intended but I think that my point might have been missed.I'm not trying to read the tea leaves, I apologize if I asked the wrong question. Thank you. I was truly curious if there was a known meaning for the status switch, now I know there most likely isn't. I realize most of the process is unknown and I do appreciate y'all taking the time to help us navigate this process. I also understand the questions are repetitive year after year and applicants are always trying to figure out their chances through each little change in the system. As much as I hope to gain an appointment, I also know I don't come close to some stats I've seen on here. I submitted my best application, I am proud of what I have accomplished and hope USNA sees it that way too. But if they don't, I will change my mentality and be happy wherever I end up. Just pointing out I am not one to read tea leaves or go searching for "unicorns". I am in it until they tell me I'm out and I don't expect an answer until I get one.Maybe I came on too strong or you're reading a much stronger voice than I intended but I think that my point might have been missed.
What the past cycles showed us is that a switch from CPR to Pending or whatever has meant different things, often within the same week. At times it has almost seemed to be a random assignment and/or random changes back and forth between the status labels.
Next to be noticed and also drive people crazy is the date/time listed on the portal. Some candidates become convinced that it meant that the Admissions Board examined/reexamined or had other action happen but then it turns out to be very widespread without any discernable change to status over the following weeks.
I have not seen ANYONE with the answer that you seek or at least nobody who is actually part of the admissions chain.
