Hello all,
I turned in my USNA application a few weeks ago, and ever since my status has been “Pending”. However, today, my application says incomplete. Please know that I have not looked at my status over the last few days, so I’m not exactly sure when this change happened. Anyone else who is applying to CO 2029 having this issue? Thanks!

DS status changed today to this he said. I think based on my older DS experience with USNA, if there are questions regarding the portal - reaching out to USNA admissions officer is a good idea.

My sons also says incomplete today. When I go to "My Progress" at the top, everything has a checkmark except Nomination.

reached out to admissions. They didn't tell me why it changed but just informed me I'm good and nothing more is needed. So either a glitch or there's a reason and I'm not authorized to know.

From last year. Incomplete meant that they haven't reviewed your package, if it changes to complete that means the admissions board reviewed your application and they sent it to noms and appointments committee and they're figuring out if or where they can fit in into the class portrait.

Where did you get that information from or are you speculating?
Complete or Complete Pending Review typically has meant that all application documents needed for Admissions Board review has been received. It hasn’t typically meant that an application had been in front of the board or that a candidate was found qualified.

My application said complete, then incomplete (everything has been done and in since August except nomination). I called Admissions and emailed admissions and was told that everything was complete just pending review. Nothing is pending except nomination. At the end of Summer Seminar we were told that despite the process being rolling admissions, they will start to look at applications the last week of September. My BGO said the same thing. She said that incomplete meant that they have not yet reviewed my application, hopefully soon.

Rolling admissions is where colleges review applications as they are received and decisions are sent out when reached.

How can a decision be reached for MOC slates until all competitive candidates with nominations have been reviewed?

They can give LOAs to candidates early for whatever reason if they know they will use a discretionary pick even if the candidate doesn’t win the slate.

Admissions board has already started meeting. About 2 weeks ago.

Oh, ok thank you. I guess either I'm not a top applicant or they haven't looked at me yet. Oh well. What to do but wait and work on plan B and C and D.

Just blank your mind on this.

Every application gets a full look. They will not fill the class up before they get to you.

There are people who submit everything in August and see a decision in May. There are those who skid under the wire, still sweaty from their CFA, who might see a decision in February. Much depends on nom type.

Thousands of data chunks from thousands of applicants are flowing at avalanche volume and speed into Admissions and won’t let up until deadlines close for the cycle. Even then college reapplicants and prepsters will have first semester data rolling in and getting fully looked at later in the cycle. DoDMERB process does not have to be done by application submission deadline and can go into very late spring for AMI and waiver process.

The Board that meets regularly evaluates an application for admissibility. DoDMERB does not have to be done for that. There are other parallel and intersecting processes that deal with nominations, waivers, final approvals, etc. No one jumps up from a Board session and runs to a keyboard to send appointment offers to candidates’ portals.

Get everything in. Mentally prepare to wait until April 15th. If you find out earlier, great. It’s also not first in to be first reviewed. I had a candidate one year get his stuff in August and wasn’t reviewed until March. He had first board scholarships to multiple services, LOA to USAFA and EA to USCGA. He was highly qualified. Also remember that the admissions board is just one step. The admissions board is concurring with the recommendation and scoring. They simply concur with the recommendation to qualify someone for an appointment or NAPS or Foundation or not qualified. For those who get qualified they then go to the Noms & Appointments committee who start the massive puzzle of appointments. As those mentioned above, as more candidates are reviewed and nom slates are submitted, the more puzzle pieces exist to build. This is why it’s not as simple as submitted and I should know soon. Look at past threads, lots of candidates waiting until the end.
