Hello from GA! I have a DS who is a candidate for the USNA, with a nom, and has recieved an LOA from the USAFA. I am so happy to find a place to obsess about my son's future without making the rest of the family suffer. My 16 year old puts it this way, "I can't wait for R to get in; we need to get on with our lives". I've learned a great deal from the postings...most important being that I am not alone in my obsession!

Congrats to your son!

I'm in GA-5. Had the interview on Saturday and they said they'd release decisions within 10 days. So we'll see....

Did your son get a nom from Isakson or Chambliss? I know state competition was obscenely competitive this yr.

Welcome to the Forums!!

We have a lot in common. We are 'neighbors' (I'm from Alabama), and 2 years ago, I was in your shoes when DS was applying to WP.

I also have a teenage daughter that became very tired of that whole year revolving around DS and the WP application. When he left for Beast, I told her that it would be all about her now (she is our youngest).
Haha.
Famous last words.
WP (or USNA, USAFA in your case) will infiltrate your whole life while they are a cadet/mid.
She's OK with it and is very proud of her brother but it is kind of a big joke in our family. :shake:

Glad you found some people here with whom you can relate too! :thumb:

Welcome and congratulations on the progress your DS has made to date. In particular, there aren't many LOA's sent out for the USAFA. Some refer to it as "the golden ticket".

If your are looking for a place to share your obsession for any SA this would be it. I have heard there is a 12 step process available to deal with the obsession, but I haven't been able to find a link to the site.

My 14 year old DD is also sick of the hearing about the USAFA. She continues to say " Dad why would ANYONE want to work this hard so they can go someplace where they have to work even harder?"

Best of luck to your son. We're in District 6, Tom Price, from whom "we" received the nomination; DS did get to interview with both Senatorial boards but no nom from them. I heard that they talk amongst themselves and try not to double nominate. Interviews here were early-Nov 6- thank God for that much!

Nice! From what I understand the 6th district is pretty competitive. Fortunately, I'm right outside of the 6th! Last yr Price had 4 appointees to USNA, so your sons chances are pretty good. Wish him luck!

GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!
