STEM?

Ditto. DS wailisted at 11:58 (Illinois--applied early Jan.. Session 3). Anyone actually get in from a waitlist? Any thoughts on how many are on the waitlist? My DS would flap his arms to fly there to attend at the last minute if need be. It's gonna be a long wait, but he is happy to still have a chance.

I believe those with STEM offers were given until May 5th to decline the offer. I would imagine once those spots open the wait list will begin notifications early next week.

It would be nice to hear something next week. My daughter submitted her application in January and we've been checking emails every 10 minutes since then. Just got the waitlist email. Keeping fingers crossed.
 
Did anyone just get a decline? Seems like a lot of waitlist in our small sample.
 
Just got the e-mail - wait listed for session 1. Kid has to fly out June 1 to link up with east coast relatives who would drop him off at USNA for the session. If he gets the nod and that call comes, man is my credit card going to get a workout! Thanks for the info on the May 5 decline date, that gives me hope that we may hear something next week.

Still, it’s better than a no!
 
Just go the email. I did not get accepted, but I have been put on the waitlist. Hopefully I'm at the top of it!

If it runs like their academy admissions, it will be rolling and up to the week before. I have no idea though.
 
The wait list e-mail clearly states that you may hear, by phone or e-mail, of acceptance within days of the session start. So that right there answers any questions about when a wait listed candidate may hear back. If there is one thing I’ve learned about the military – don’t bother trying to figure out rhyme or reason!

Note to self: answer any incoming calls from 410 area code in the next few weeks!
 
Our email gave us until the 8th to pay the fee. They asked for us to decline immediately if we knew we couldn't make it and then there was another email option if you needed financial aid. This morning has been a flurry of pricing flights, arranging possible donations if we don't get FA. She's going regardless, it's just a decision of whether we are paying or USNA.
Waiting patiently to see who else gets in for session 1! She really wants to meet @OZZY so hopefully ya'll will be there together!
 
I got waitlisted too.
Could someone explain what chances I have of getting in when waitlisted?

I would think the chances are low but since they don't tell you where you are on the list it's impossible to tell. There are at least 12 waitlisted on this thread alone which leads me to believe there are many on the list. We live in driving distance and my son is actually still in school during the rising 9th grade session so for us it wouldn't be a hardship to go last minute. We are going to put it out of our minds and move on, if lightning strikes and his name comes up it will be a pleasant surprise! Good luck to you.
 
Thanks for that info SCmum! Can the fee be paid by credit card? I know that USMA SLE is money order or cashier’s check only, as the government itself does not have a mechanism for accepting credit cards, so I’m just curious. I like to be rewarded with airline miles for all my purchases!

Ozzy – Sadly, no one can give you that information. It certainly does sound like there weren’t any hard ‘no’s today, so I assume they are leaving themselves with a bevy of candidates to choose from once the declines start arriving. There is simply no way to tell.

Ktnatalk – The area code hasn’t been 301 for quite a few years now!

I thought it would be cool to meet her too! I just got waitlisted so maybe I have a chance. Just hoping for the best. If a miracle happens and I do get accepted I'll look forward to seeing her :)
