My rising 9th grader opened his email this morning to his STEM acceptance! His sister went 4 years ago. Completely changed the course of her life! I know that sounds weird but it did. I would love to share her story but won't bore anyone if they don't want to hear. Do just pm me and I'll tell you... But seriously....Great week!!!
My DD went the summer before her Freshman year just as something fun to do out of state, not really thinking anything about it being military. She was good at STEM so I encouraged her to just apply. That one week she fell in love with all things military and all things Navy. That being said, we do have a long line of Navy in our family ( enlisted on my side, mostly my brother in law's, uncle's, father during WW2, nephews, etc), but not myself or her dad. Anyhow, she immediately decided that she wanted to attend USNA for college and set up her highschool curriculum accordingly. She reapplied to STEM two more times and was rejected both times, but never gave up. However, STEM does nothing for your application. It does however get your name in the system for contacts. So her junior year she was invited for a CVW ( candidate visit weekend). She spent a weekend living on campus. She then applied for NASS ( Naval Academy Summer Seminar) to attend summer in-between her Jr/Sr year. At the same time, she thought she might as well try for West Points program called SLE and Air Force's program Summer Seminar. Surprisingly she was accepted into all 3! That was this last summer which began a whirlwind of a year that lead up to this week.I would love to hear more about it! I'm new on this board and it says I can't send a message yet. :-/

Hi everyone, my daughter (rising sophmore) received an acceptance letter yesterday afternoon. I was trying to find out more info on experiences of those who have attended and found this board. Good Luck to those who still haven't heard anything!

She applied to USNA, USMA, and USAFA which is nearly a year long process. Unfortunately she was denied from USNA, still waiting from USAFA , and did not get a direct appointment to USMA. However, USMA ( West Point) has given her a Scholarship to attend a military college in Alabama for one year while they hold a spot for her. She will be attending West Point in the Fall of 2018 if she completes her end of the contract! So one simple week at USNA changed her entire life, even if it didn't lead her back to USNA.
