Good day to all! I have been waiting two years for this and finally am able to put my name on the list of appointments as a college reaplicant! Anyways, I was just wondering how long do admissions take to reach back after you responded to the email saying that you accepted your offer? As well, as a current college student, what do I do next in order to ensure that all documents that need to be transferred are transferred? Congrats to all who got in, and to those who did not... the fight still goes on. As Walt Disney said: "All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." You got this!

From what I have seen on these forums, Acceptance or decline is thru the portal only.

If by transfer documents you are referring to courses transfer, they don’t transfer. You start as a plebe.

Thank you! By transfer I was referring to like any documents that needed to be signed in order for me to be able to go from here to there basically, I don't know if I made myself clear but yeah. Also, what portal if you might know? Cause the email I got from USNA Admissions said to email them accepting or declining the offer, and on the portals, I just see my offer of appointment but no way of accepting it through the portal.

I take it back, USNA process of acceptance or decline could be different. I don’t know yet.

You might be able to start plebe year with more advanced Calculus courses, but other than that, credits usually wont transfer. To be fair the Calculus "credits" dont really transfer, I believe there is some sort of test you are able to take over plebe summer that will allow you to start first semester taking those advanced Calculus classes. I might be off here, but a friend of mine told me about this. You should ask around about this, might save you from retaking a class.

Other than that my friend, congratulations on the appointment, and enjoy your time with family!

You accept through the email in the letter not in the portal. I am not sure about your college transcript etc bc mine is coming from high school. I am sure they will notify you of what they need. But make sure to accept through the email listed in appointment letter

This is called “validating.” During plebe summer, you’ll be marched into blessedly air-conditioned rooms to take validation tests. The subjects range from math to history to chemistry to English. (I’ve been told most plebes take these exams seriously, while some use the opportunity to take a much-needed nap.)

If you surpass a certain score, you’ll be given the option to jump past the basic courses (e.g. Calc 1, Chem 1, English 1). You might even get to skip two levels, if you choose. You’ll still need to complete the same number of credits to graduate, but now you’ll have flexibility to take different classes, especially as an upperclassman.

Different schools of thought on validating. Some validate all they can, to create opportunities for a minor or internship later on. Others pass on the validations, so they can review subjects or have an easier time as they adjust to mid life. No right or wrong answer for any given person.

Congratulations!

For a sample PTR, take a look at last year’s for Class of 2024. We are getting close to when they will update with yours. They don’t change too much from year to year, so sneak a peek but wait for yours.

It was just about 7 days from the MOC phone call to the email confirming and requesting Appointment confirmation. And it came about 2:30 a.m. local time.

FWIW, the next email received after accepting the Appointment was a couple days later and looked “suspiscious” as the subject was “Acceptance” and the senders name was, and this isn’t meant to be a knock against them, an alliteration of sorts so we almost didn’t open it.

However, due to answering unknown numbers for weeks and weeks, we had also become conditioned to opening all kinds of emails. Once we opened this one, we saw it contained the links for the next set of forms such as the Police Report etc.

Before this whole process, would anyone have thought about opening an email from Johnny Johnson with the subject line Acceptance?

Admissions is working their tails off so hats off to them for continuing to work long in to the night every night.

Note - name used above was not the actual sender’s name but you get the idea.

@Capt MJ - would you kindly add the link to the vaccinations...I ran across it on another thread a few weeks ago that you had posted from maybe this time last year, but for the life of me I can’t find it again...🤷🏻‍♀️

Look at my quote you used just now. Go to the PTR link. Go to the Immunization links. I think that’s what you need.

Congrats, @juanortiz28 ! Strongly recommend opening a Navy Federal account for smooth sailing with your pay (info in PTR) if you don’t have an account with them already, and you have a branch in Bancroft you can walk into to talk to a person. Many swear by USAA, but I recommend opening an account with them later.

Agree with validating opening up opportunities. I validated a bunch of Spanish courses and Chem 1, which allowed me to pursue a minor in Spanish (Ocean Engineering major) without having to overload on classes.

It took them around a week to respond back to me. Then a few days later I received an email with forms for me to fill out and send back to them.
