Still struggling with ACT.

Don't forget that he needs certain classes to attend also. He has to have a minimum of physics and pre calc. My DS is a '21 and some of his classmates were sent by CGA to prep because they were missing those classes because their HS just didn't offer them.

Do you know if one year of physics is enough in grade 11, or does it have to be taken in both 11th and 12th grade?

Thank you! Fortunately, he has taken as much hard math as he can here (it's a bit harder being in a tiny rural community, but he is doing it, WoOt!) I think he's doing two maths and a fancy science right now (his senior year) and he has told me he is above the requirements. So, yayayayaaaa!

All of the academies will work with applicants based on the course work available to them. They have a recommended high school course list but will accept individuals with exceptions. They may just need extra screening.

If you DS has taken everything that is available and done well, missing one of the "recommended" courses will not stop the process. If the candidate picked extra shop and art classes instead of the available advanced math and science then there could be an issue.

He's always chosen academic classes first, then if there is an open spot for him, he's chosen leadership classes then the arts. I'm super biased, but he's a pretty well-rounded kid!
